How much more geekier can you get? Anyways.... this is an idea I've had for awhile.

The basic premise is to have a space, say a customized 18x18 or some other space (a cave of some sort perhaps), in which a small group of players garbed in appropriate gear (probably low level stuff, non-magic NPC bought,) would play out an adventure overseen by a "Dungeon Master" (excuse the plagiarism). Basically, all combat between said adventurers and the "monsters" (who would have to be played by other players) would be governed by dice rolls. The extent to which D&D-esque rules govern combat, loot, skills, etc... would have to be decided, as this is a rather undeveloped idea.

Anyone think this sounds interesting?

(As a side note, why not implement dice-governed non-combat RP-fights to avoid godmoding? Something to think about.)

Not bad. I'd be up for it if someone could give it some streamlinedness (is that a word?!)

I've played tabletop D&D for a little over 10 years. So I could offer my knowledge in the matter. But don't look to me to organize it Razz

Well it isn't NWN, which uses D&D core ruleset. It sounds interesting, however not sure exactly how you would apply it, since you would need dice technichally, and the ones in game only roll up to 12. There was a simila scenario done last Monsoon in Tokuno, where you rolled and it determined your RP response. It was interesting but became a bit of a drag to normal RP.

can you not set specific limits on dice rolls with your personal attendant fortune teller?

I haven't looked at it since I did my mini quest a few months back, but that is what I think I used to generate random numbers.

Tai is correct. With the new personal attendants, the lucky dealers allow you to set up to a 100 sided die I think. Regardless, dice would simply be used to determine mechanical aspects. As far as responses and role-play, it'd be the same as it is now. No need to roll a die every time you speak heheh.

Kuja's right. You guys should just use openRPG if you want to do something DnD style. UO's interface ... is so not built for this kind of thing, and will really just lead to some headaches Razz

I think the problem is that too many people will try to use their actual Atlantic characters for it, instead of making new ones.
