She had warned them and every military must experience these knocks. It had been rough on them their pride carrying them into the notion that they could not be defeated. Yet they had overlooked small matters, Merci was sure that Umbra had been betrayed that someone had spoken lazily upon the wrong ear. For certainly Beowulf and his soldiers would not rain down so mercilessly upon his wifes homeland.
Did they deserve to be fought, oh yes for she was soon to learn what depth of evil they, Umbra, were perpetrating. Yet was it really evil to want what they had everywhere. Umbra thrived, Umbra's economy and population rate were more stable than ever in years passed. Could anyone fault them for wanting to blanket the lands in teh same prosperity, really all they had to do was give up the horrid light.
Yet in all this there was one thing she was certain of. Today those she fought next to worked with Umbra towards a common goal. However, Merci did not trust the lich, and she would not be swayed to allow anyone else to hold a greater power than her homeland. She would hand over her sword to no one.
They had been viciously defeated in battle and Merci did not take it laying down, she would work her soldiers harder, it would not happen again. The warmaster was clear, they must train doubly hard. Umbra would become only stronger from this.. _________________ May destiny guide you... |

Alliances were always a trade off in the war master's mind.
Umbra's soldiers are true quality in almost every respect of the word, but alliances bring us strength in number as well. It is unfortunate they didn't bring coordination with them.
The battle against Moonglow was a total failure. Our first failure in a long time.
Their formations were odd and misplaced, the ideals and strategies of we who lead collided and caused confusion. Moonglow was ready at a moment's notice and we were caught completely unprepared. Nothing was done right.
As the War Master repeatedly gripped the handle of his sword tightly in his fist, he continued his internal monologue.
It will not happen again. I don't care what the price is, Moonglow will not defeat us so easily again while an Ab'Arawn leads the fight.
This proud and typical line of thought would of likely continued long into the night as he paced atop the battlements of the war temple, but then he stopped himself. When he started to speak again, he did so aloud.
Not while an Ab'Arawn...leads the fight...
The war master turned toward the neighboring dwelling and yelled with all the might his voice might contain.
