Grim thoughts heavily brewing on her mind, Ceinwyn ab'Arawn arrived at the Regency meeting already in a state of hostility.
One of her own had recently launched herself from the west bridge in Umbra. Merci and herself could only come to the conclusion that Dae had been troubled by the compilation of her recent miscarriage and her knowledge of her mate's infidelity. Neither of the matriarchs could understand how such a strong woman could bring herself to suicide, especially over a man. With this at the back of her mind, she sat beside Ardashir to listen to the newly elected regent, Ramses, give his speech.
It was not too much longer when Will Kaldhel took the seat beside her. Out of twenty free benches, it was his ill luck to sit beside the matriarch of Umbra. Whether he chose it on purpose or not, was unknown to Ceinwyn. What she did know, was that it infuriated her beyond control.
As the meeting commenced, she grew increasingly irate. She whispered to him, at first a rude suggestion to take a different seat, which grew into actual threat of violence. The Duchess' husband simply brushed her words off, requesting that she "shush" as he was trying to listen to the new Regent.
The sharp, thrusting jab of her kryss penetrated his armor, signifying the snapped thread of her patience. Catching the hapless Grand Duke by surprise, she slashed her blade into poor Will two more times with furious hatred. As blood ran freely onto the floor, Ceinwyn's mind focused on one thing, releasing the anger. She lifted her right hand, summoning forth a searing blast. The unfortunate man slumped to the ground.
Ceinwyn, recalling at last where she was, quickly dashed to the exit, slipping through the door before the guards could be summoned. She could have sworn someone had started after her, perhaps the new regent, himself. But she paused only once, for a split second, to whisper something before disappearing into the darkness of the night.
