Nimrana awoke just before dawn and looked about the bed chamber of his youthful host, who was the son of a certain nobleman. His drowborn night sight allowed him to see in darkness that rendered humans blind. He did not give any thought to this ability. He did not even accept it as a sign of drow superiority unless he wanted to flaunt it, but it was.
Without consideration for the young man's slumber, he roughly shoved him away and slid to his feet. Disdaining the chamber pot, he stepped onto the balcony and pissed over the rail.
He let the cold predawn air envelop his naked body as he soaked up the sounds and nuances of a house in the forest waking up for another day. His long pointed ears flickered at bird songs and insect songs. He loved the sound of the wind soughing through the leaves of the trees and even loved the sounds of twigs dropping to the ground. He gazed at the stars dimming in the wash of morning light and lifted his arms in salute. Nearly a century after leaving the Underdark, he still marvelled at the surface world.
He turned towards the bed chamber and leaned his buttocks against the rail as he considered the sleeping youth. Although a human male, he was fairly hairless except for the thick curls on his head and some fuzz here and there. Attractive and drowishly slender, he had been unsure of what to do, but Nimrana had patiently coached him. The young man's ignorance did not surprise the drow who was well acquainted with repressed human sexual morality.
Now the rising sun warmed his back. The large household began to stir as folks took care of morning ablutions and started breakfast and chores. Time to go.
Nimrana decided to leave his host's home by the front door. He knew it would cause the greatest consternation and that he could likely escape any attempt to capture him. Only the young man knew he had spent the night, but soon they would all know and wouldn't that be delightful?
He smiled as he plotted to polymorph into a rat after he made his getaway and then return to witness the uproar as the young man faced his inquisitors. He didn't think of it as a mean thing to do or a drowish thing to do, but it was. |
