Morio sat on the top of the bank roof in the ever twilight of Umbra, dressed in only a pair of pants meditating. He took his time pondering answers to questions that he had not had time nor interest in before then suddlenly his meditations was interupted.
"Ahh.... back again young Morio...."
Knowing the voice Morio stood and went to greet the acient Kitsune, he bowed formally and spoke, "Master Jyruu... as always you are the only one to sneak up on me."
Chuckling Jyruu said, "It has long been a practice of mine, I did it all the time to your grandsire and great grandsire, for all their mastery with casting flashy lights and seeing deeply into the surroundings they always failed to notice that I was there behind them."
Morio laughed at the image he had in his head of his two family members getting quite up tight and grumbling about the apparent shock, then he sobbered quickly. "What may I do for you today, for I quite remember that you had no more lore to pass onto me...."
The old Kitsune looked deeply into Morio's eyes and sighed, "You very much remind me of your mother, such a waste to lose as meny breeding pairs that we did to the pelt hunters, but enough of that I have something for you..."
For the first time Morio noticed that Jryuu was carrying a rather large rose wood box, it also had an elaberate handle to hold it and a fine lock. He placed the case on the ground and unlocked it, opening the case Morio just gave a look of wonder on the four items....
"Mmmm yes judging by your face young Morio you know fine craftmanship when you see it... these I was making for the marking of the birth of your son, but as you know craftsmanship can not be hurried, and I can proudly say that these are the best that will ever be created by my hand, I dare say that I shall never craft the likes of these ever again. They are yours... as you know I have been crafting bows for hundreds of years, always for the clan. Though I have never been on the battle field my power is that of creating and through that the preservation of the clan. But since your exile I saw such potential wasted that I had to follow you, Do you know why you succeeded on the field of battle where others did not? was it your tactics? was it your analytical mind? was it giving the right commands at the right time? No it was none of these it was through shear power and charisma, people followed you cause you stood at the front, people followed you because they saw what you could take.... now being in this place has opened your eyes, as you have seen the gaijin, no that is not even a term for them, this is their world, we just occupy a small piece of it, you and me are the gaijin here, always staying to the outside of things... though I must also say you chose wisely for your bonded mate, a superb choice I might add. Who would have thought it, the daughter of Orion and the Son of Moriaki.... bonded.... who would have thought it, enemies children together... well thats enough of that, go on I am sure that you want to play with the new toys. And remember I shall be watching you, since coming to these lands you have improved alot more then what I would have thought, but you still have a long way to go...."
Leaving Morio speachlessn the old Kitsune jumped off the bank roof, landed with a light thud and sprinted down street leaving Morio with the case of bows and his thoughts, then scenting the air he notices that Haydn is below.... _________________ cezanna "No, he is a fair and faithful man, Ranna"

Haydn certainly had her hands full with Iruka. The boy was all over the place, leaping, running, playing. His child curiosity had him forever asking "Why? Why? Why?". But, she knew he would grow fast, so she enjoyed the time she had with him while he was still little.
Every "Why?" evinced another explanation from her, and more than once she was glad her mother had bestowed so much knowledge to her experimental daughter.
Her Morio viewed her as a true kitsune, and she felt that she was not alone in their dark world. For a long time, she had felt thus, despite her many friendships within the realm. She had often questioned her existence, but looking at Iruka, she knew the answer. She would do anything for her offspring.
And if that meant killing a dryadic traitor to protect him, then so be it, the weed of Umbra's garden would be pulled. |
