Tatiana listened to Mr. Tai. He always spoke in such cryptic ways it was hard to know exactly what he was saying. She did understand that Mr. Taichi was going to go to the vampires. This worried Tatiana greatly. But she could go talk to Mr. Ronin herself, and maybe then things would be okay. With that thought uppermost in her mind, she sat down and wrote a short missive and sent it off on one of her doves.

As Ronin sat in his study he could not help but hear a rustling in the autumn-torn leaves that remained on the tree outside his window. Peering out he noticed a white dove moving cautiously through the branches, shaking as it moved, and appearing quite frightened of its environment. A dove here? he thought .

As he opened the window the terrified bird flew in quickly and came to rest on his desk. Ronin approached the dove and noticed a note tied about its leg: as he reached for the note, the dove stood fast, as if it was duty bound to let him remove the note. It immediately flew out the window as quickly as it had come in, and was gone.

Ronin unrolled the bit of parchment which said that Ms. Tatiana wished to talk to Mr. Ronin. She would not have requested this unless it was of dire importance. He decided he would go to her at once.
