I think being a regular guy is always more fun. People tend to make the exotic characters to do something challenging or different but just a regular human has the potential to be so diverse and cover a wide spectrum of emotions and flaws that they never get boring. You don't need to be the exiled Prince from the Land of Nanoo Nanoo to be interesting and diverse...regular people can be too! |

I have to go with the majority here. Especially the part about being an average person. Human or otherwise. *shoots a look at Walter*
I've got several gypsy characters, and very few people actually RP them (bless your heart if you're ever reading, Angelique!) and let me tell you. It can be very difficult. Gypsies exist both 'irl' and in Sosaria. Trying to piece together what UO gypsies vs Earth gypsies like, especially where religion is concerned, has been one heck of an experience--and I lived among gypsies while I lived in Spain so I have a pretty good grip on them and their views.
The point of me saying this is, even playing a 'normal' type of character with my gypsies has been challenging.
The sad thing here is, it seems you have your agenda and you want to stick to it, and ask for advice you don't really want.
It might be to your benefit to listen to some folks who've been around a while and just pay attention to what's going on.
And it would also be a good thing to stop making statements that portray you as picked on. It'll only get you ignored in the end. There are some really fine roleplayers here and elsewhere. You're getting really good advice here.
Consider taking heed. _________________

Ceinwyn is a classic example of a character that started out basically unheard of around when AOS came out. No one probably remembers when she was in her first guild, led by Lord Brandon, a drow. She was only a half human half drow, raised by humans with no drow knowledge. Everything drow she knows now is because time was spent IC in game studying with Lord Brandon. She had to put up with other drow calling her a non drow because she looked almost completely human. Things went that way for like 4 IRL years.
She spent time training swords in the Dark Order. Then, after the black mist destroyed Dark Cove, she wandered a bit and focused on her cryomancy, before she fell in with Galnor Bloodmoon. While in his guild, she was turned into a vampire. She joined OES 6 months later. After that she served whatever lord was in charge of Umbra, until they vacated as well, and she took control. She has only been a vampire for nearly 3 irl years. I never RP her as being anything close to an elder vampire.
Edit to add that any respect or disrespect she gets from most characters in game was all earned IC over the course and as a result of many years in game roleplaying. I didn't "jump right in" as a powerful cryomancer vampire half drow. It was established over seven years' time.
I'd also like to add that it was the most fun I ever had. Character development is my favorite part of roleplay, followed only by hosting quests and continuation rp. Out of all my chars I ever played, Ceinwyn has and will always be my favorite, because of the work I put into her.

I'm officially going with a witch hunter concept. He's not from Sosaria, but he's human (he can't be from Sosaria if I'm using a made-up faith).
As a side note, his name is Victus Perryn, not Grukthar. That was the orc's name |

Yeah, Norture was my first human character. He was a young mage, about 20, who left Moonglow for Umbra because he wanted more knowledge. Over the years, he developed quite a bit. When I made him I figured it'd be cool to have him become skeletal sometime, but I would have never guessed he'd end up a lich lord. Just taking a normal nobody might be hard to start out as, but it really does make the char more memorable as it develops. |

Why can't he be from Sosaria? Witch hunter is a good concept, there's lots of crazy magic in Sosaria that is getting out of control. There's already made up religions on the server, you could say you've come to your beliefs through years of experience or something. |

I'll go with what Norture said.
He could probably just follow the virtues, but dedicates himself to killing the unholy. |

Proud of you, Omera. It's hard when you get advice like this, but I'm proud of you for not only listening, but giving it a genuine chance. _________________

Thankies
I'll be training my spell resistance tonight. I'll suck without it, both for PVM and PVP. I'm currently standing in a boat outside of haven while spellbinders cast on me. I got 4 so far, although I thought I had 6. |

The virtues makes a good catch-all lightbringer cause. A lot of evil is also chaotic, for example one of Umbra's goals is to spread chaos. The best Virtue guild left is Sanctus if you want to poke them at all, the Skyfires and M'reals are old paladin families with some epic history. There's a lot of evil RPers right now, we need more good guys to conflict with :D |

Sometimes spellbinders get bored and wander off. |
