What would everyone think of the community streaming an RP event live?

I was mulling over this idea the past week, essentially weighing the possible benefits with the possible repercussions.

My train of thought centered on having one event a month streamed live to the web, posting on Stratics and generally advertising the ARPC in the best way possible - by having viewers experience it first hand.

On the positive end, it provides an amazing amount of exposure for the community, and hopefully invites new roleplayers to come out and join us. However, many non roleplayers or new roleplayers would show up, and this sort of event would require some understanding from the community, essentially we would need to accept and work with potential roleplayers with little to no understanding of how the community or roleplay in general works, and be inviting enough so that they would like to come back.

The major negative possibility however is having the events raided by griefers, which may be an inevitability in some cases.

Would this be worth doing, or will it require far too much roleplay rule bending and planning work?

this sounds like a great idea to 'attempt' - Try it a few times see how it goes.
Thus I'm game.

I think it's an awesome idea.

I think the key to minimizing risk and maximizing potential is to hold the sort of events away from our normal roleplay society. The sort of situation where we go somewhere in the world that anyone can easily find us or get to and just role play without worrying about the safety of our cities or upholding any particular laws.

There is always the possibility that we will be griefed, but the same thing happens at every single EM event. You get a few, but it doesn't stop the event from being fun if we can push through it and keep those who attend and care involved.

i love the idea to. it -will- take a lot of planning and rule bending....but i think for the sake of getting us some exposure and possibly new members...its worth it. personally ive never found dealing with new or non RPers to be to troublesome. almost every current member of my guild were taught from the ground up (not sayin any of us are perfect tho Razz) and dealing with griefers is an every day thing for most of us i assume....cant be helped. I also think an event like that would attract attention from other shards and their Rpers, again, potentially causing us to grow as a community.

I and my guild will provide any help we can if we decide to do something like this, and i hope we do. the benefits far outweigh the negatives IMO.

I think we can bend the rules and be overall accepting of new people into the community. Its for the greater good in my opinion. Honestly I think thats what its going to take if we really want to expand our numbers.

id like to add that aside from willing to help, the EMs have stressed their desire to aid in player events for some time now.

When you say live streaming, I thought you meant like audio or video conferencing, or having a bunch of roleplayers meet up IRL and roleplay IRL while capturing it on video.

I like the idea of holding an event somewhere that everyone could partake in though. If it's interactive with the crowd, and if people actually engage griefers or people being silly, it could be a lot of fun. For example, if someone goes "lol star trek", just exclaim that they are a star reader and to read the stars for clues or something and just play with them.
