The shopkeepers were talking. The barkeeps were talking. Even the necromancers were talking.

Change was coming to Umbra. There were rumors about the Matriarch. The citizens spoke of crazy actions and wild words--extreme in thier nature even for one with such a wild reputation as the Matriarch of Umbra. They talked of her departure and speculated on the reasons behind it.

A breakdown of the government. The military in disarray. Worries about potential threats from outsiders now that things were unstable were voiced in hushed tones in every shop, in every home and on every street.

Kinn first heard the disturbing rumors on one of his final trips to the Spider Kiss Trading Company. The Boss had sent him to gather the final few important documents that had yet to be moved to the Sirah Sindicate's new base of operations. The new safehouse, so close to Britain, was a far cry from the dark and comforting streets of Umbra. But those streets were not safe for Drow these days. They were not safe before (thanks in no small part to The Boss' latest scheme involving the Zento Ninja and the Moonglow Militia), but they were certianly even less safe now. Only now, Umbra wasn't really safe for any of it's "usual" residents.

Yes, Kinn thought to himself, it seems our departure from Umbra was most appropriately timed.

Having retrieved the items he needed, Kinn took one final look at Umbra and the Spider Kiss Trading Company. He knew he had much to tell The Boss tonight. Of course, Kinn knew it was very likely that Umbra's latest news had already reached Britain and that The Boss would probably already know before Kinn told him.

He sighed deeply.

Ahh well. Perhaps the fresh air of Britain will do us all some good.

With that final thought Kinn took to the shadows and walked to the moongate that would take him to Sosaria's largest city and the Sindicate's new base of operations.
