Kaelthir walked quickly through a dark, sandy hallway in her family's desert holdings, searching for a particular grandson for whom she had a task for. As she walked, she noticed another presence from behind, and turned swiftly to encounter it. Two glowing blue eyes peered back at her from the darkness.

He said as he extended a bony arm and passed her a chain with two highly runed ornaments upon it, one larger than the other. Kaelthir took the chain quickly and brought it close to her skull, looking the runes and enchanting over to try and discern its purpose. The runes were intricate, almost needlessly so, likely to obscure the purpose of the objects.

".... This seems to be some sort of soul holding object, I dare say a phylactery. But what is this other object? Just what are you planning?" Kaelthir asked, not moving her gaze from the ornaments as she attempted to figure out their purpose.

The figure stood silently for a few more moments, clearly choosing his words.

The dark figure spoke in a clear, serious voice. Kaelthir stood silently for a few moments, thinking the information over.

"That still does not answer my question. What do -these- objects do, and how will they influence the rite?" She asked him, lowering her arm and looking the figure directly in the eyes.

With that, the figure walked away, disappearing from whence he came.

Annoyed, Kaelthir cast recall and returned to the Tower of Necromancy to better study the objects. Whatever task she sought to assign beforehand no longer held any importance to her in light of this new information. What was coming was more significant than she originally anticipated, it was once again time to prepare.

(The crazy text formatting isn't working for everyone, some people are getting black boxes instead of the proper symbols, so here's the story without the crazy stuff. It was an experiment to try and give a feeling to a character's voice.)

******

Kaelthir walked quickly through a dark, sandy hallway in her family's desert holdings, searching for a particular grandson for whom she had a task for. As she walked, she noticed another presence from behind, and turned swiftly to encounter it. Two glowing blue eyes peered back at her from the darkness.

"What I am about to say you will not repeat to anyone. I have full control over the boy, he will remember nothing upon awaking." The dark figure said as he approached the lich. "We know what Darrien wants now. Everything has been leading up to this point...."

He paused, the silence surrounding them for a few moments.

"It occurred to me, Darrien holds two necessary reagents that can perform a rite that will complete everything. The other three, less obvious in value, perhaps were left in the grove this entire time... Carry this with you, protect it dearly." He said as he extended a bony arm and passed her a chain with two highly runed ornaments upon it, one larger than the other.

"The rite is a summoning rite, and whatever is brought into this world will likely be ended... Used as a reagent. This is what happened many years ago, however not on purpose then. This time, you will need to be wary of your loyalties. Whatever is returned will be weakened immensely, and fairly easy to end. Those from beyond are infinite, a memory and a soul put together to re-create what once was. The loss is entirely symbolic, it is a truth to face that even the infinite can be expendable should it be necessary. With that said... be wary of what you attempt to destroy. If Darrien cannot consume it, it will end him. If possible, avoid choosing a side until one of them has been consumed, as the survivor shall be your lord. The other becoming the artifact. " The dark figure spoke in a clear, serious voice. Kaelthir stood silently for a few moments, thinking the information over.

"That still does not answer my question. What do -these- objects do, and how will they influence the rite?" She asked him, lowering her arm and looking the figure directly in the eyes.

The dark figure turned away, pausing once more before replying, "If it works, I likely will never manifest in this body again. If it does not, it will give Darrien something else he can consume. If he questions you, this is your defense. It is absolutely no threat to him."
With that, the figure walked away, disappearing from whence he came.

Annoyed, Kaelthir cast recall and returned to the Tower of Necromancy to better study the objects. Whatever task she sought to assign beforehand no longer held any importance to her in light of this new information.
