Thraxas returned home from the meeting with King Sid, elated that all had gone so well. The King did not seem frail in body or mind, so, at first, Thraxas wondered if this might be some kind of ploy. Yet there was nothing of the kind evidenced. The King simply asked Thraxas to take the helm of the government of Yew, and the King would back whatever decisions were made.

This was almost too good to be true. Thraxas smiled to himself, imagining how his brother, trapped in limbo, would feel if he knew that *his* dream of being master of Yew was now a reality, but that he himself would not be there to see it. What ultimate and cruel vengeance; none could taste better!

There was to be a formal ceremony in the near future, but Thraxas wanted to be ready to implement policies of government that would slowly, but inevitably, transform it into a city ruled by daemons, perhaps the very first of its kind. Old alliances, current social norms, rules of law, and the like would have to be formally and outwardly observed and carefully maintained, but the unfailing result would be a society made in the image of the world to come. Change would come, but it would take time and lots of patience, and Thraxas would need help, a lot of it, to make it all work and run smoothly.

He needed a strong and loyal right hand; someone who was a brilliant risk-taker, one who shared the vision and would expend every ounce of energy and life to see it through. The image of two beautiful women came to mind, one whom he had been searching for but could not find, and the other the sinister daemon who had answered his summons when all others hesitated or balked. Ceinwyn or Erinyes? It would be a difficult choice. He surely had to talk to them both.

The rest of the evening he spent locked in his study, making plans for the changes that would come to Yew; changes what would set the stage for a total reversal of daemon fortunes in Sosaria.
