A trusted courier of Lord Regent Thraxas has delivered the following missive to the estate of Duchess Molly Kaldhel:

"Your Grace,

Greetings,

It is sad that we were unable to meet for the dinner invitation some time back, but I am now aware that your physical ailments may have been the cause. I do hope much improvement comes to you swiftly.

I know this because of your recent correspondence with your cousin, Kayla Ariesus, and that is due to my having detained her under house arrest in Yew, requiring that I carefully scrutinize every bit of information that she receives, including letters. Forgive my intrusion, but it was vitally necessary. Having said that, I did, indeed allow her to read the letter and will permit a reply of her own.

It is regrettable, but I must require you to contact me to arrange a meeting for both of you, and that you visit her home in Yew for it. I cannot allow her to roam freely, even in Luna under your supervision. I have enough evidence to implicate her in the recent death of my brother at least indirectly. She is the prime suspect in the murder, in fact.

I am sure she will state otherwise and will hurl herself at your feet to plead her cause, but I implore you to deliberate carefully before you arrive at a conclusion. I pray your good conscience and keen intellect will not be swayed to her viewpoint simply on the grounds that she is your kinswoman.

I can meet with you any time privately at your convenience to state my case against her and her cohorts in Heartwood.

May you prosper well,

Thraxas
Lord Regent of Yew"

A messenger, dusty from a long ride, arrives at your gates with a letter for you.

I thank you for your letter and I will in haste come to speak to my cousin. We are related yes but I will also take into account your evidence against her. Tomorrow evening after the 10th hour from noon is when I will arrive. Please let me know if this time will work for you.

A letter from Kayla arrives for Molly Kaldhel:

"Vedui' your Grace, my dear cousin, my one hope,

My captor tells me that my correspondence is being monitored and my privacy violated, so I shall keep this short lest it fail to reach thee.

I am told we may meet on the morrow at 10 p.m. past noon at my home. I shall give thee directions to find it. You may have heard of the famous Winterbreeze Rune Library? It is a good walk south of the Abbey and slightly north of a large stockade filled with various animals; tis the home of a rancher. My villa lies a short walk to the southeast of the Library and due east of the stockade. You will no doubt see a guard or two that allow themselves to be visible. They know of thy coming and shall allow thee to pass freely. If you have difficulty in finding it, please speak to the officer who keeps me in custody, Itannar Darkanor. I find his company and manner pleasant enough and trust thy welfare to his care without reservation.

I am anxious to see you and talk to you.

Namaarie,

Kayla"
