I'll start by saying, I don't 'get' UO aging. It seems like everybody has a different opinion, and what's RP'd in game doesn't usually seem to follow what people say. With that said...

Would it be a reasonable assumption that a child born of someone from Earth, with a Sosarian father, might age more slowly than a full-blooded Sosarian?

Input appreciated. Thanks!

As I understand it, aging would be based on the person's physical location, not their place of origin.

But that is my guess...

Kids super age from baby to teenage then aging goes into the realm of chaos where your profile tells it all. There is no standard set of beliefs on how we age, everyone goes by their own view of their character.

I find the specific age placing needless. It's a cruel time where a robot or a see-through Demon can crash through a wall or space time can get a new corn hole ripped in it by some insane mage with a crystal. If you can push a plow or swing a sword, welcome to the tax break, your best years are behind you. If you sell freshly squeezed Yam Juice on a dusty road outside of Yew with backward Druidic runes, because despite their fall in usage your pappy insists you be a learned Briannian, you're a child, free from the woes of the realm.

Don't stress over it.

LOL.. I think what Dav basically said was that it's up to you, because so much craziness already goes on. Correct me if I'm wrong, Dav.

It's your RP folks, do it how it fits you. Earth people who come age slower, but they never covered mixes. I seriously doubt you will have the kid in diapers for only an hour before marrying him off. Wink I'm pretty sure whatever you guys decide will be believable (as far as fantasy situations go) and top notch.

Yeah, its your rp, your choice..
I've had 2 rp children for different chars.. One aged quickly, and the excuse was that Poet did some kind of weird sh..stuff.. but I plan on aging Edda's adopted baby as slow as possible

Look. Rp is totally up to the individual, believe me I get that. But if someone asks for advice or input, SAY something! Don't try to be randomly, incoherently clever in some vague attempt to get yourself over. (emphasis on the word "try")

I wouldn't say it's needless.
A scale of time would be nice, so we can all follow the same time increments when it comes to our character's age. I think this was brought up earlier this year, I'll try to find the post so i can link it.

As far as aging goes, I think it works out to being 1 game year = 1 month RL, given the clock and sextant for measuring time passage.

Most people hit adulthood and then stop tracking that passage of time in game.

But it really is dowhatchalike.

I know when Dealthy had a child, I didn't want to wait to age him, so I stuck him in one of my patented "T3cHn0V@+s" and aged him to late adolescence with a full dump of knowledge in the space of a RL month.

Kid had a bunch of emotionial problems, tho. Something about having no human contact or emotional context to frame himself with for the first 15+ years of his life. Who knew?

Trying to keep one official time is hard because there are basically two opinions. either one year per month, per the game, or five years per one due to the change of how much you'd physically grow per the devs. Now you add in the part where they are from Earth, adding another debatable mix, since we know years can pass as days per the full Ultima series. I think that's why no one's overly commiting, due to it's accept everyone's different, or go into a huge debate.

This thread reminds me of how glad I am never to have had a child in this game. Smile

You know, if you have someone from earth, it'd make sense, despite all the figurings that one year equals one year. Half child, probably two years every one year, no matter which you go by.

For normal aging I've typically tried to go by 1 IRL year = 5 IG years. But that's just me. =)
