Merci kneeled before the head of hte pack, ten wolves with bowed heads. She stared into his eyes, hers sad, she touched the fur on his neck. He moved slightly away, as if to say do not be sad it is our duty Oracle....

She nodded as the wolf growled out a command and they left heading for their destination. They headed to Charnel hill with a silent statement. Gathered and assembled there....knowing that their death would soon be at hand. Yet they like Stonegate were not afraid...

Merci waited she would know..

As Izrem approached from the city limits, Ceinwyn's notice still in hand, the howling he had believed to be merely in his mind gave way to a sudden awareness of the presence of actual wolves upon Charnel Hill. As Izrem approached their howls turned to guttural growls and snarls. He looked them over, noting that none of them were Dire Wolves, natives to the black forest of Umbra. They were gray wolves and snow wolves. Creatures of much colder climes.

If it wasn't one thing it was another.

Izrem attempted to coax them off the hill, offering tidbits of meat and calming reassurances, unsure if either meant a thing to the creatures; none of which succeeded in getting them to follow him out or even ceasing their aggressive posture. After several further attempts, Izrem sighed and accepted that, despite his desire otherwise, these creatures were here for a reason. Incanting an energy bolt Izrem felled the closest creature. Approaching the corpse Izrem spent time looking it over. He recognized the breed and the markings upon it were a clear sign of whom had brought or sent them, Stonegate. *(see note below)

Izrem's gaze moved to the other snarling wolves and incanted a meteor swarm to deal with the rest of the "pack".

"You have no intention to follow me out? Unfortunate. I commend you for your bravery and this act of defiance, wolves. Take my praise to your masters, if your souls are strong enough to move that far..."

Releasing the flurry of fireballs, the pack was destroyed in an instant. Izrem imagined that was the intent from the start. Chanting momentarily, Izrem deactivated the runes he himself had formed that trapped the souls of those slain within the Grove and funneled them into the Well of the Void. Their spirits were of little value to him and even he was willing to recognize their suicidal stubbornness. As their spirits fled he re-activated the enchantments and proceeded deeper within the hill. He had work to do.

* I am assuming there was some sort of marking, hence why you actually named them "Stonegate Wolf" or "Guardian Wolf". If this was not the case, we'll just say Izrem recognized the breed as he has been to Stonegate multiple times before, on several occasions actually ICly observing them.

The ethereal wolf appeared before her its spirit waiting to move on to the next plane.

My lady it is done.. it is as you suspected the test was failed.

She smiled and laughingly read out loud from Ariana's Public Decree.....

Quote:
Any unprovoked aggression without the blessing of the Regent Mother towards these individuals by citizens or residents of Southern Malas will be treated as an act of treason, punishable by death. In addition to these named individuals, all citizens of the Kingdom of Stonegate have been pardoned for their association with the aforementioned and are to be treated with respect until such time as they have proven to be hostile in their actions, direct or indirect.

The wolves, the Ambassadors Merci had sent, that sat unattacking and waiting for the Oblivionites had been killed.. this was indeed an act of war.. she would report to Myrddin and the council.
