I have been commissioned by the Lord Regent Thraxas to send you this official document. He is aware that the elf named Kayla Ariesus is your kinswoman. After a thorough and time consuming investigation and without much aid from Heartwood officials, it has been determined that there is enough proof to implicate her in the murder of his brother, Thrax, some months ago. She will be put on trial as soon as possible. It will not be an open court session due to the hostility that exists between the citizens of Yew and those of Heartwood, but it shall be conducted in the Court of Truth.

The Lord Regent invites you to be her counsel if you desire. He will make all the evidence available to you so that you may conduct a fair and effective defense. Please reply at your earliest convenience if you wish to do this, or not, so that he might set things in order.
