The two stood, seasoned warrior, and tall silent newcomer. Staring thru their metal helms at one another. Marus d’Rue was unsure he just couldn’t place it but something was different about this fighter.

Yet a challenge to a duel, was a challenge, and this young man had silently stepped forward his quiet well trained steps pressing upon Marus a sense of great purpose. Around his waist was a metal chain with a piece of a black stone forged to it. Something about it caught his eye but he shook his head raising his heavy blade and stepping into the duel with all his might.

The lad was good, he could move in flexibility, he had not the brute strength of Marus but surely made up for it with speed and tactic. The duel lasted long the other elders of the village watching, to see whom would be the new champion.

At last the youth faltered and Marus saw his move bashing his shield hard into the side of this young man causing him to reel back and land flat on his back. The duel was over and the young mans helm had flown off. A gasp rang out in the crowd. Long blond curls spilling forth.

It was Emily…

She was known thru the village, a clever young woman and he and Emily had been childhood friends. His eyes blazed for a moment. Who had trained her? Why?

His stomach churned as he put a hand out unto her. She refused it now showing the graceful movements of a woman that he had missed becoming blatantly clear. She rose with a spring and turned scowling at him helm in hand affixing it once more to her head. The elders of his clan were shocked. It was unheard of.

The moments to come were a blaze of moments that would live forever in his mind, her fathers anger at his daughters disgrace, his leaping forward to grasp the young woman, He heard the bone shattering crack of her ribs, as her father dealt infront of all, a resounding blow to the surprised young womans waist.

Marus’s fury was tenfold what it should be, a cry of rage descending from him as Emily crumpled to the ground. He realized then he didn’t dislike her in fact he admired what she had dared to do….

The back of his sword sent a bone shuddering crack thru her fathers jaw and the man spit blood reeling back. The elders nodded as Marus picked up Emily rushing her to the healers hut.

From that point on it was certain, she would be his.

***************************************************************************************************
Merci had fallen heavily upon her bed this eve, Battles taking much of her energy and more to come. She loved it but she found that the adrenaline rushes were wearing her out so she lay with heavy head upon her bed.

A nightmare rose up in her mind this eve a spector of days long past..the being crying out as she battled ahorde of creatures the womans blade breaking and shattering.

The woman turned her eyes filled with calmness and said unto Merci...Just go don't look back..

Merci screamed she looked so familiar to her..and yet so far away..She shook her head as the pain abated slowly and fell back wearily upon her bed. A feeling of longing welling up inside her that she had long since forgotten.

~~~~~ Roughly 4 years after that duel~~~~~~~
With her helm in her hands, Emily stood on the far side of the field laughing at her husband. “Fair and square this time Marus.”
“You cheated.” Marus words may have sounded harsh, but to the trained ear they were full of love and laughter.
“I’m good. I don’t have to cheat.”
“Only because you had the best teacher.” Marus tilted his chin up in pride and quickly crossed the distance to his wife. He kissed her forehead gently. Taking his hand he casually rubbed the rounded form of Emily’s belly. “My two best students. As much as I wish you would suspend practice until our child is born, I know you won’t“
Emily looked up into her husband’s blue eyes with amusement. “You just want time to rest.”
“Something tells me when this one is born I’ll get anything BUT rest. Now do me a favor and go inside. You’ve been out here in the heat for far too long.”
“Alright, but only because I think it’s a good idea.” Emily turned to walk in the house giving a slight shriek her husband smacked her on the tush.
My heart to your ears
Memories travel thus
The hourglass of time compressed
Through Love’s unending touch
~~~~~~~~~~Forward a little over 28 years later~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Emily Gwynn d'Rue gazed down at the snow covered walkways of Stonegate. Some form of shockwave, unknown in origin, had rippled its way across the heavens awakening her from her passive peace and tranquility. As a rule, Emily had never been a fan of tranquility. At least not in the conventional sense. What had counted to her was her husband and her kids. Those things meant you gave up silence. She had gotten used to it. So when death had claimed her and she knew there was no going back, she accepted the silence and the peace grudglingly. She made due with the thoughts and images of her children and their happiness. It was the order of things to die before one's children. At the thought she frowned. Now was not the time to think on the how and why she had passed on. No, now was time to think on why she was back. Love's unending touch... that was what she focused on as she made her way to the blue haired figure with the kryss in her hand.

She felt a presence, she knew it wasnt one of the usual ghosts that haunted her. This spirit was loving, strong and should be familiar.....

She looked down at her Kryss it shimmered with cold light and Merci closed her eyes...

My impending Marriage is making me long for things I dare not ask in the past for, it is making me wish for things I can not even remember...

Who is it now that comes that I must remember but can not...
