“Damn that child!” Harlequin was in the midst of a full-fledged trantrum. She slammed the front door of the cabin and dropped her armload of firewood next to the hearth. Chips of bark and moss flew as the logs banged against each other and rolled, scattering on the floor.
“I don’t care one bit what Gray’s sister does, or who she is. I just want the blue-haired Lycan. And any others she’s hiding in Stonegate.” She seethed as she stabbed an apple violently on a cutting board with her dagger and cut it in half with one swipe. “Who does he think he is? I could break him over my knee. And he’s trying to tell me what I can and can’t do…”
Harlequin took half the apple and bit it, silencing her ongoing tirade as she crunched and plopped into a chair sideways, her legs over one arm, and her head resting on the other. She bounced one foot agitatedly and stared at the ceiling as she plotted, chewing one tiny, violent bite at a time until that half of the apple was gone.
Finally, she sighed exasperatedly, her bottom lip curving out in a particularly spectacular pout. “It’s just not fair. How can he be so immature?” _________________ Why should the world be over-wise,
In counting all our tears and sighs?
Nay, let them only see us, while
We wear the mask.
