A hawk hooded in gold trimmed black leather swoops down before Fiona carrying a vellum parchment bearing the McKairin Clan seal in its talons which reads as follows . . .

Dear Lady Fiona,

I have need to speak with you on a matter of great urgency. Please send reply immediately as to when and where.

Most sincerely,

Kay

Fiona smiled, recognizing the hawk as it drew near.

"He's back!" she whispered to herself, barely able to contain her excitement as she unrolled the letter.

Immediately after reading it, Fiona quickly grabbed a quill and a piece of parchment.

My Champion,

As per your request, I have compiled a runebook full of potential wedding sites. I look forward to showing them to you. There are two places I am most fond of but, after having recalled halfway around Sosoria, I have decided that I would marry you just about anywhere.

Evelyn has made my dress. I am surprised to say that I actually find it quite lovely. I trust you will too. She tells me she has made a suit for you, as well, and would like you to come in for a fitting when you have time.

How does tomorrow sound? I can pack us a light lunch and we'll make a day out of it.

Love,

Your Lady

Kaylor lay Fiona's parchment aside with a sigh. Nary a word had she mentioned with regard to the hastily scribed message he'd sent before rushing back home, no query or expression of concern. Faerwhynne's enemies were discovered in the midst of planning siege upon his realm - a matter which required his immediate attendance. Of course such things were of little consequence to those of an entirely other world and presently Fiona did have much on her mind with planning a wedding and such. He understood that and certainly had no wish to hurt her for she would ever remain dear to his heart, however as he'd said on a previous occasion, the only way back was straight through.

Shaking his head he took up his quill, confident that his decision was the best one for them both . . . .

Lady Fiona,

We have only to talk. Perhaps tomorrow evening.

Kaylor

Rather than sending his hawk, he walked to Yew Abbey and asked that a monk deliver his message to Stonegate.

Fiona frowned, reading his response. The coldness of his words was more apparent to her this time. She debated whether or not to continue calling him her "Champion" seeing as how, for whatever reason, he had abruptly stopped. Fiona sat alone for quite some time, thinking everything over, before responding. With a heavy heart, she picked up her quill.

Kaylor,

Tomorrow evening is fine.

Kaylor received Fiona's missive with a bit of puzzlement. He'd last written her two days ago, therefore his 'tomorrow night' would have been last night. Which day was it to be now?

Fiona,

Mayhaps your message arrived to me late or mine and yours crossed in their delivery. I am prepared to speak with you at any time. Please let me know to which night you refer, MiLady.

K

Kaylor,

I responded to your letter when I received it.

We may meet this evening, instead.
