After two days, Korin knew something was going to have to change. His tower was just too small for three people one being a five year old little girl who was into everything. Korin had heard Laramie say time after time that she had not ment to impose on him. So he knew that if he informed her of his idea she would object. So it was with that thought in mind Korin formed his plan.

It was mid morning when Korin handed Laramie a small pouch of coins and told her to take Kestryl into luna for a shopping trip. He made it sound like he thought it would be good for both of them to get out of the drab surrounding of his tower for awhile.

As Laramie and Kestryl disappeared from sight Korin put his plan into motion. running through all the valleys of stone gate Korin killed every ice snake he could hunt down. He gathered the corpses and took them home. After smearing blood on his clothes and his halberd he waited for Laramies return.

Korin was just inside the door when they appeared around the corner of the path leading out of the first Valley. Korin let out a blood curling scream and tossed a handfull of the snakes out the front door. Backing out the door swinging his halberd, as he went chopping up already dead ice snakes.

Laramie looked up at him fear, terror in her eyes. Keatryl dropped the candy she was eatting and practically climbed up her mother into her arms, which were still loaded with packages. As Laramie was trying to figure out what was going on and untangle Kestryl and the packages from her arms Kestryl started screaming.

"Mom he crazy, Mom he crazy!"

Korin jumped to the ground and dropped his halberd, He tried to peel Kestryl off her mother but the little girl would have none of that so Korin opted to releave Laramie of some of her packages.

Looking back at the tower, "Its bad, its the worst ice snake infestation I have ever seen." He turned to Laramie to see if she was buying any of it.

"What do we have to do now?" Laramie ask as she adjusted Kestryl on her hip. "I mean can't you just kill them all?"

Korin turned and with all seriousness he could muster. "We can kill those that have come out but the nest has to be burnt out."

He looked her deep in the eyes "We will need to stay in the inn her in Stonegate for a few days until I can get this under control."

Laramie set Kestryl down, Looked up at the tower. "Ok well I have to grab a few things from inside." She started towards the tower Korin grabbed her arm. "You can not go in there they are everywhere!"

"Kestryl needs clothes and her things." She protested.

Korin turned her to meet his gaze, "we will get those in luna it is just for a few days at most."

Snakes. Laramie and Kestryl had dealt with the woodland kind in Ilshenar. Ice was another issue entirely.

The Inn in Stonegate had been offerred as a place of residence for the two of them when they first arrived.

In the best interest of letting Kestryl spend time with her Father, Laramie had agreed to stay at the tower. “Who are you kidding,” she told herself. “You agreed to it because you love him.” Both answers were true, honestly. Either way that Tower was now covered in ice snakes.

Korin had said they would have to burn out the nest. Did that mean burning down the house? Could Korin do that and not get hurt? And what of the things they had just moved in? She and Kestryl didn't have much but what they did have had sentimental value.

Question after question dotted her mind as she ran her hand through Kestryl's auburn hair.

“How long we gots t'stay Mommy?”

“Not long I hope, sweetheart.”

Blue eyes full of trust and love gazed back at her. “Not long at all.” The words were whispered soft so that Kestryl could barely hear them.

Korin was excited, as he walked through the remodel of his tower. He, Laramie and Kestryl had spent three nights in the Inn of Stonegate. Korin had told Laramie that ice snakes had infested his tower and that it was not safe to stay there.

He Had been told, by the leader of the stone masons that what he wanted would take atleast ten days to complete. Korin had told the foreman to gather every stone mason he could find. He offered a thousand gold bonus if they finished with in a week.

Three days late Korin stood in the newly remodeled Tower waiting for Laramie and Kestryl to return. Having told her that the Ice snake infestation had been taken care of and that they could return.

The look in Laramies eyes was worth every coin Korin had paid to have it done.

When Korin had said for them to stay at the Inn, Laramie thought for sure he had meant her and Kestryl- alone. Deep within, then and there she had braced herself for the inevitable move back to the endless run of camps. Back to the tents and wandering life.

So when Korin showed up dressed out of his armor with a bag of their things, you could have knocked Laramie over with a feather. “Y....y....you're h..h..here?”

“Where else would I be?” he asked softly searching her eyes.

Anywhere that we weren't was what she wanted to say but she didn't. “I j....j.. just.” She stammered the response out, anxiousness taking over.

“My family, my girls...are here. This is where I belong.”

Three nights later Laramie and Kestryl walked the steps to Korin's tower. Mouth slack jawed and dropped wide open, the two were carbon copies of shock. What was once barely big enough for him would now easily encompass all of them plus some.

Taking one of each of their hands in his own, Korin slowly and carefully took his girls around to each and every room showing off the new ammenities. Instead of pushing them out of his life as she had thought his intention was when he sent them to the Inn, Korin had built his world around them. That fact alone had Laramie tightening her grip on his hand as her tears rolled silently down her cheek. Kestryl's reaction on the other hand was to jump and land on every single piece of furniture.

Korin it seemed had not thought things all the way through. Now the bone containers that once dotted every corner of his tower, were no longer safe. It seemed one certain little girl liked to play with the bones. As Laramie went around the house putting her touches on things Korin spent his day going through the containers cleaning them out. It really was surprising to him some of the stuff he had stored in them.

As he dug through one removing object and looking at them, "why did I keep this?" he ask himself out loud.
"What was that?" Laramie voice came from behind him. She stood looking at the piles that Korin had made.
Korin smiled as he turned to face her, Holding up the dagger with the broken tip. "I was just asking myself why I had saved this." His eyes met hers and once again there were sparks. It seemed to Korin that each time their eyes met fireworks went off inside him.
With a slight smile on her face, Laramie spoke as she closed the distance between them. "Did you answer yourself?"
Korin shot her a quick answer of "No I have no clue."
Reaching up Laramie wrapped her hand around the dagger and gently pulled it from his hand, tossing it into the trash barrel she had set up for him. "Then throw it away."
They both looked at the barrel as the dagger hit the wooden bottom with a thud. Laramie walked over and peered into the barrel the one dagger she had just throw being its only contents.
"Korin, you haven't thrown anything away yet?" the smile on her face was kind as she turned to face him.
"Well I was thinking that anything that you could smelt down I would put in a pile over here." Korin pointed to a small pile that he had started of things he was not sure about where to put them. "That way you would not have to mine or buy ingots to begin with."

Laramies eye's lit up and she giggled, Korin could almost see her bouncing with excitement at the thought of turning part of this space into a work area for her. The rest of the day was spent the two of them cleaning and getting the house turned into a home.

It had taken all day to place the couches and the rug just right. Three more trips to various shops in Luna had finally yeilded the bookcases she had wanted eliciting a gigle from Kestryl.

Smiling at the mass of auburn hair, Laramie held out her hand and walked the little girl to her room. It had been one of the last pieces completed but between the stuffed animals and the animated pixies, it seemed perfect. Lifting her up and onto her brand new bed, Laramie planted a kiss on her tiny forehead and watched as her little girl, exhausted from a day of decoration and shopping, drifted off into peaceful slumber.

It was just that moment when she heard a relatively large SMACK from downstairs and took off running. Her kilt rubbing the stairs as she moved she rounded the bend in time to see Korin look up from a crouched position in the corner.

"Are you alright?!" Laramie's brown eyes filled with concern as she walked hastily over to check him from head to toe for signs of injury.

Giving her a smile that sent butterflies fluttering through her insides he answered calmly. "I'm fine, I just dropped a few of the skeleton's I was cleaning up."

It hadn't dawned on her in her worried state as she flew through the basement, but he had started cleaning up the mess so that kestryl wouldn't get hurt on them. Crouching down beside him she lifted the alabaser pieces in her hands and began helping him.

When the mess was cleaned and Korin had made his way up to kiss Kestryl for her nap, they started on her forge and anvil placement. Not a moment went by the rest of the day that wasn't punctuated with a touch or a glance.
