The only life Zeth had know was now at an end, with this cough staying hidden in the shadows was no longer possible. It took him hours now to will his body into its other form. and unless he was really mad he could not hold it. Zeth Longed for the feel of the earth under his paws the wind in his fur and the freedom. Most nights just before he would close his eyes he would wish that for him dawn would never come. Often he cursed Merci for saving his life. What life had he left. But atlast dawn did come and along with it the cough and the pain.

After one extermly bad coughing fit, Zeth spit blood onto the cave floor. Wiping his mouth with his sleeve he rolled over and rummaged through his pack. Holding up the last bottle, which contained only a few drops of the liqiud that surpressed his cough and brought him a few minuted peace. He drained the bottle and let it roll from his hand as he felt the liquid run down his throat. It wasn't enough, another wave of coughing and spitting up blood racked him.

Zeth sat up and scratched his beard. He had taken back up in the cave that he had first found when he came to stonegate valley. It was high up on the side of one of the mountains and other than a pack of white wolves that he shared it with he was not bothered by anyone. Zeth had spent the last six months in solitude. He had tried after being thawed out from Merci's life saving imprisonment to fit back in. But then again had he ever really fit in.

Zeth moved over to the small pool of water that collected in the back of the cave on all fours he lowered his head and drank from the cyrstal clear water. As he sat there gasping for breath and the ripples of the pool cleared Zeths reflection came to him. The only thing Zeth saw in his reflection that was familar was his eyes. A grubby dirty old man sat staring back at him. His cheeks were sunken in and those green eyes had dark circles under them. His hair and beard were now gray and dirty and matted. He ran his fingers through his beard trying to pick out some of the bigger pieces of food. Another coughing fit struck and left Zeth gasping for air. as he sat back against the cool rock walls of the cave with his eyes closed. He could hear in his mind the voices of the wolves as they whispered back a forth amongest themselves. Zeth had not let on to them that he could understand them. Nor had he tried to communicate with them in any way. They had an unspoken agreement he stayed out of their way and they out of his, it is how it had been since they first showed up in the middle of a snow storm. After a few intense minutes of teeth baring and growling. zeth had rolled back over and went back to sleep. In his mind he was hoping they would attack. but the female was in labor and soon the cave was filled with the sound of whinning pups.

the largest female lay with her litter of pups her eyes darting back and forth between Zeth and her mate, Zeth could hear them as they commuinicated between them selves. "It needs to be with it's own kind."
The large male, Her mate. "We have nothing to do with that, it is not of our concern." His eyes on Zeth as he lay back against the rocks.

"It is different than most of its kind, it has not tried to harm us in anyway." The female said as she nudged one of her pups back away from the mouth of the cave. "It is almost as if it is one of us."

Zeth stood and grabbed his pack he pulled on his hooded cloak and pulled up the hood. Picking up a large stick that he had been using to steady himself Zeth headed out of the cave.

"Follow it, Make sure it reaches his kind" the female commanded of her mate.

With a grunt of protest the male padded out behind Zeth keeping a distance.

As he reached the bottom of the path leading down to the valley Zeth was well aware that he was being followed. Turning around and looking right at where the male wolf stood Zeth spoke in the language of them.

"If you are coming with me, You might as well walk up here beside me." Zeth waited and a few minutes later the wolf emerged from behind the rocks and walked up to where he stood. The wolf looked at him curiously but did not speak. Man and wolf turned and headed into the main Valley of Stonegate.
