What about both? Have 1 steady tavern area for most nights just so theres a known place for ppl to congregate & find rp; AND once a week, rotate an EVENT sponsored by all the taverns (each tavern taking a turn), an an event that could either be at the sponsoring tavern of the week or someplace entirely different. _________________ Dark Lady Ditto Armunn

I have taken an array of suggestions from the other posts and put them here so that we can see what is the most popular idea. Please keep in mind if a player run town was built we can always move this at a later time.
Please note Rotating Tavern nights in different locations will be left as they are and will not be changed by this. |
I think it would be great to have one big player run town location somewhere staked out. |

Hmm out of that list I would say Britain but it is rather large. Haven is nice because it is unable to be claimed, but rather small... then again it would attract more people to the cause! *evil laugh* |

The centralized RP location isn't really about a land that can be claimable. The entire point is that it is neutral grounds. It's more so we can attracted new blood and have a place to go when we aren't running our plots or what have you. _________________ Malorn ‎(12:14 AM):

Exactly, neutral ground. So a place that nobody can claim as their town. When you start involving other aspects such as a guilds land claims there is that chance of other issues, like what if we did it in Mag? Well with their RP it couldnt work because they are not neutral when it comes to the Orc right now.
Just an example but you should see my point. We should pick a spot that is not owned by a group (and would never be owned). |

Real life matters. Nothing of great concern. Everything is going great. I just wanted to channel free time activities into accomplishing some new goals.
I most likely will be back soon. I truly love the game, and love it mostly because of the people on this board who play.
As strange as it sounds, I actually miss you people.
I let everything drop at my old place. Ha! I'm going to love coming back as a pauper. Truly! I hope someone nice picked up that sweet lot I had along the water just north of Cove in the old Blackmarsh territory. God, I did have some nice stuff in all of those chests of mine. What a field day it must have been going for all of those million gold checks. |

There is a tavern in Britain that is next to the bank and if you wanted to use that you could. Just a suggestion with the brit bank reply. _________________ Grand Duchess Molly Kaldhel

If good rp in a NPC town is what arpc was missing then that would have already been happening....only a player made town...with buildings not ICly "owned" by each guild but with a building "themed" to give each guild a reason to be in that town...i.e. a church for ashencrosse....maybe some evil temple of sort.... a dog groomer for SG ....a dentist for HD..along with general public interest buildings....some kind of arpc rip off of the uo hall of players.... perhaps an arena.... a tavern... a courthouse/public speaking forum/library /.....and some kind of ARPC open marketplace where both npc vendors and live crafters could hang out to make stuff...NPC towns are too stagnant unable to change with the ebb and flow of guild interest related buildings which is probably why there is no rp centralized npc town so it's obviously not the missing part of the equation because alot of peole will find themselves asking "why does my char all of a sudden have an interest in hanging out in "insert city name"......while having to swing by the bludgod temple in Arpville and bumping into some vampires who are leaving the dentist makes complete rp sense....
If you build it....they will come..... _________________ Inkari 1:02 AM Where you been man?

I can see positive things to both sides of the arguement. NPC towns give the role play community more exposure. Player run towns give more control. I am always willing to donate use of my town, and nothing has to be bought or prepared since i already have it all. _________________ aka: Tatiana Thorn nee Alexi; Summer Kane; Ivory Skyfire; and others |

The reason why player run towns and NPC towns aren't used to their full potential right now is because people don't really know to go there. Yes, it is an RP spot but lets face it, there are several and we don't have the luxury of the guarantee of someone being at any one of them at our whims. For example, Mondays, ie Tavern nights, no matter the tavern, during the time specified you WILL find RP. It's because we know when and where to go to experiance it. Tues-Sunday (non-event) we are scattered, there are too few of us and far too many options for random RP to occur on a regular basis
So lets not get caught up on player run or NPC and make a decision. No one cared back in the day that the random spot to hang out was Poet's or the Skeletal Swill. Some nights they were packed and other's it was just a couple friends and my character.
I think all in all this post is begging two most important questions in RP
When and where
If your character doesn't fit the location or crowd, take another character, we all have the possibility of 7 slots on our accounts. That's seven oppertunities to RP.
I personally like the idea of using a location and not a tavern, there are so many neat spots in this game, but hey I understand baby steps.
Lets not quibble on player run, neutral, good bad, mine, or yours. Make a decision, stick with it and the rest will unfold accordingly. _________________ Malorn ‎(12:14 AM):

I totally agree with Willow, the purpose of this is to establish a location in which any and all characters would have the possibility to interact and create role-play with one another at any RANDOM time. Those of us who remember the days of when Stormhaven was active should and can relate to what it seems we are trying to accomplish, a place for all players to come visit whenever he or she is interested in some good old fashion role-play... Putting it in a NPC location is yet another great idea which has been brought forward, it will give a chance for those not custom to the ARPC to view it and perhaps get some outsiders interested in what we have to offer in terms of a community. Let us get back on topic and no longer squabble with one another. |
