Dymm began shuffling the deck of cards. He did this with speed and expertise: the hands of a professional. His fingers moved swiftly and he gazed intently at the cards in their hypnotic dance. As suddenly as they had started moving, he halted and looked up and across the table at his associate, Mister Locke Cole. They both smirked.

It was a nice night outside, and why not? Everything had been going very well so far. Dymm had decided to relax in the local tavern while sorting out some business matters. But for Mister Crowley, he didn’t use trading routes or cargo ships. He looked back down at the cards, instead.

In a few swift movements of the hand, he had dealt out nine cards, lined up on the table, midway between Locke and Dymm. Next, he spread the rest of the deck face-up upon the table. He and Locke each took one card before Dymm reshuffled the rest of the cards once more and set them down in a stack to the side.

“Ace of Diamonds to Queen of Clubs” Locke muttered and threw his card on top of the Queen card. Dymm nodded quickly and moved the set of cards back into the stack with the others.

“Ace of Spades to Jack of Spades.” Dymm placed his card atop the Jack and thought for a moment. “And Queen of Hearts.” He moved both cards and placed them on the Queen card, with the Ace still on top.

Dymm gathered up the cards then, straightened them out and put them all back onto the stack. “That will do for now, Mister Cole. We certainly have quite a game ahead of us.”
