Kevin was trapped in his own mind. When the daemon forced itself into his mind with the help of Darrien Church and his study of Daemonmancy, his senses had blotted out one by one. He first lost his sight, then his hearing. Then he could feel nothing. Then, he could not even move his own body.
In the blackness, he opened his 'eyes'. He could see walls had formed around him in his own mind. A prisoner, in his own head. The walls were solid ebon black, and he could not damage them, no matter how hard he tried.
"Cor... Cor... Cor..." he chanted. The mantra of Courage... He could not lose his way now, or he would be lost in his own head forever.
Laughter echoed back at him. "Do you mind? That is really quite annoying," said a sarcastic voice. The walls of his prison turned transparent. He saw the daemon outside of the walls, in its natural form, with a smile upon its face.
"Do not force me to look at you, daemon," Kevin muttered. Kevin sat down on the 'floor' of his prison, and turned away from the daemon.
More laughter. "Would you prefer this?" the daemon asked. Kevin turned, to see himself standing there. He stood, quite shocked, and looked down at himself. He was the daemon now.
"Cease these tricks, daemon!" Kevin said sharply.
Laughter, again. "Whatever you wish. I suppose I owe you for this body... Though you do know sooner or later, your body will require its damned sleep, and I will spend my slumber in here, torturing you."
Kevin, now appearing to himself in his normal form, sat down again, staring at the floor of his cage, watching the daemon out of the corner of his eyesight.
The daemon looked sharply to his left, at nothing. "Whats the matter daemon?" Kevin asked. The daemon gave him a glare, and with a gesture of his hand, the walls turned solid again.
Kevin laid back in the cell, staring at the 'cieling', which looked quite identical to the walls and floor.
"Cor... Cor... Cor..."
Kevin chanted the mantra of Courage once again, for he knew a nights torture lay ahead of him. |
