Cat climbed from the bed. First putting one leg over Poet, leaning down to kiss him as she straddled him. He mumbled “ Again lass?” As he turned over in his sleep, she slipped both feet to the floor. She grinned down at him remembering the drinking game she had played with him the night before. Of course she drank water from her wine bottles and he had his own white lightening. After a few hours Poet was drunk but not asleep. Desperate times had called for desperate measures. She had taken Poet by the hand and led him to the bedroom. They had engaged in so much physical activity it had finally laid the big burly man to sleep.
As she crept from the room she grabbed the dark clothing she had unpacked from her house and brought to the Garden .She dressed quickly and quietly. She used the teleporter to the stable and went quietly into the night.
Cat found the supplies she had carefully hidden and the packhorse to transport them. She guided the packhorse through the darkness to her destination, Buc’s Den.
Cat moved slowly through the trees, leaving the packhorse tied, she made her way closer to the docks of Buc’s Den. She could hear the pirates laughing, fighting and cussing. As she turned to slip back towards her packhorse she fell over something. She lay on the ground with her heart beating in her throat. As she turned over and sat up she looked directly into the face of Rocke Oakbender. He grinned and winked at her. She growled and whispered,” Rocke! What the bloody hell are ya doin here?”
“He is watching over ye lass, just as I am” came the voice of his brother Thorne behind her. “ We barely kept up with ye. Had a bit to much to drink last night”
Cat asked them what they were going to do. Thorne grinned at her and said.” Whatever ye need us to do lass.” Rocke nodded and rubbed his hands together. Rocke walked to the packhorse, sniffed the pack and held his nose. Thorne looked at Cat and said, “ You have lantern oil in there but more than enough to light up a Keep. Are we going to have a nice bonfire lass?” Cat grinned at them and nodded.
Rocke slipped into the darkness. When he returned he drew a map in the dirt. He drew four ships and the pirate guards on and around them. Cat nodded and said,” My father owns six ships. There are four here and the other two are on the other side of the island. I have some friends taking care of the other two ships.” She winked to the brothers and started to unpack her supplies.
The first two ships were easy enough for her to slip on board. The pirate guards were more interested in their drink and wenches to notice anything. Cat thought to herself, she would have to remember to thank the “ladies” later for their help.
She stuffed oil soaked rags in small bottles and placed them in the large coils of rope on the deck of the ships.
On the last two ships the brothers boarded with her. The pirate guards never knew what hit them. One minute they were standing on the deck and the next they were hit in the knees with axe handles. Axe handles left very noticeable lumps on their heads too. Cat distributed the oil soaked rags and bottles as they left the last ship.
When they returned to the woods, Cat gave the brothers each an oil soaked rag . They ripped it up and tied it around archery bolts. She looked at them both and grinned. “This is the fun part. I’m not an archer but if we can’t hit a ship from this distance, we need to stop drinkin”
Rocke made wild motions with his hands . Thorne chuckled and said “ My brother says he will burn the ships with his pipe before he quits drinking”
Cat loaded her cross bow and so did the brothers. Cat looked to the sky. When she saw smoke rising in the distance, she heard one of the pirates’ yell,” Fire!” As the pirates ran from the tavern towards the other side of the island Cat gave the signal. She and the dwarves fired bolt after flaming bolt onto the decks of the four ships. The pirate guards who had stayed behind were to drunk to do anything but abandon ship and run for the tavern.
Cat stayed to watch the ships burn until Thorne threatened to carry her away himself. She grinned at the dwarves and took off her black skullcap. She wrapped it around a fallen limb and stuck the limb into the ground. From a distance, as the sun was just starting to come up it looked like a little flag. It was her message to her father.
“Your turn to lose.”

Arriving early, I sat outside the Garden dressed all in black. I could not help hear Poet's unbridled emmissions of seemingly emmense pleasure. I kept hoping that Rinoa wouldcome along soon so we might quietly go over the eve's plan or something, anything to distract me from the sounds coming from within the Garden. One would not think with walls thick of brick that the Old Goat could be heard.
Rinoa crept up beside silently, all in black like myself. I had to stifle a shriek as I was startled from my thoughts. She whispered "I was watching you from over there, waiting for the right moment to sneak up on you." I whispered back, "You did well Rinoa. You are a fine employee and trusted friend." Rinoa smiled as she tucked a loose tendril of white hair under my hat that had managed to escape despite all my efforts. She whispered, "That white hair nearly glows" and handed me a black skull cap. We spent several minutes getting all my long white hair into the skull cap and tieing it tight. With a slight jump, I whispered, "not so tight, you're strangling the blood flow to my brain". Rinoa giggled and loosened the knot a tiny bit. I whispered, "much better."
Cat came down as we were giggling and told us to hush. She gathered the pack animal with suppiles and off we went to Buc's Den. Rinoa and I took a few items from the animal's pack and transfer them to black, leather pouches. After reviewing the map with Cat, Rinoa and I set out to the other side of the island. The two ships were there as Cat had said they would be. There were only two drunken pirates ao the decks of each ship. I suppose they were guarding the planks. We were not sure if there were more men below decks.
Atfer leaving a small pouch of reagents under a bush, we crept back into the brush and traveled a little south of the ships. There we decided to approach the ships on the waterside, thinking the pirates would not be watching out to sea so much as they were the planks. We entered the water prepared to embrace cold but the water was quite warm. Weswam quietly to the first ship. Rinoa opened the her pouch and started to uncork bottles and douse the ship. I swam up the the next ship and commenced to dousing it, covering as much as I could reach, pulling my self up on the some the puckered boards and pouring the liquid down the sides.
Having swam back south after emptying every last bottle. Feeling much lighter in both physical and mental load. I drudged back onto shore Rinoa was waiting for me. We eased our way to the north again. We retrieved our reagents from under the bush. Just as we heard the sound of thunder in the distance, we simultaneously cast the explosion spell, followed by lightning and a couple fireballs for good measure. Both ships burst into flames and lit up the sky as if the sun herself were shining before they exploded and sent debris soaring in all directions. We knelt and covered our hands for a few minutes before disappearing back into the night.
