Hello Lady Arcana,
I am writing to you on my curiosity of a certain desicion that you may have come to regarding what we spoke of in person a little while ago. Correction. Not only I, but Lia and the rest of the Regulator's as well. If you wish to discuss more on this, then let me know. But I believe that you have the whole idea of what we spoke of. We await your reply, by message or in person.

Arcana stood and stretched her back, stiff and cramped from the long, low-voiced conference with her second in command, Arieus. Dangerous ground indeed… and few reliable sources of information on any front. She massaged her neck briefly and sat back down, taking up her quill to pen a reply as Arieus departed.
*written in a strong, slanting hand*
Lord Tarothin:
I have considered your offer carefully, and I can only give you a provisional answer. You have assembled surprising allies, given your reputation and prior actions in the realm. While I have no reason to doubt the good will of your allies, I must ultimately rely upon my own judgment. I do not know enough of you to judge.
As I said during our meeting, we may indeed find common ground in the pursuit of peaceful law and order. Yet on the other hand, your past actions in the realm seeking personal power, and your admitted fusion with a demon in the name of acquiring power, give me pause as to your motivations. As does your thinly veiled threat of the consequences should I, or anyone, defy you.
The world is not near so black and white as you desire it to be. Nor will every leader who desires peace, as you also claim to desire, neatly fall into line with your precise vision of order the instant you snap your fingers.
Yet, I am not unwilling to recognize that men may change their ways. I simply require proof of deeds behind your pledge of reform. Your future conduct will form the basis of my judgment. In the intervening time, I am willing to come to know you and yours better. Toward that end, I shall send an envoy to whatever meetings you wish, and I am willing to share information among you and your allies.
However, I cannot and shall not obligate my Knights to war indiscriminately on your behalf. The spirit and soul underlying any ‘order’ may be of admittedly little consequence to you, but the underlying principles are of critical importance to me, and, if I am not mistaken, the majority of your allies. By way of example: While I gladly share with you the common aim of preventing the Ebon Skull from spreading its influence; I would consider it a grave mistake to war against a good, honorable man like Martin Willow simply because he did not choose to follow your lead.
I am sure you will appreciate my understandable reservations. Other organizations before yours have claimed reform which has in fact proven false. However, if your word is in fact genuine, I am sure that your actions will bear your out in due time. I look forward to our next meeting.
Respectfully,
~Lady Arcana Arryn~
Arcana blotted the ink dry and attached the scroll to her hawk’s leg, immediately sending the bird on its way. |

After carefully reading her message. "Headstrong indeed...", while he picks up his own quill and writes.
Lady Arcanna,
I believe that you should indeed speak to other members then of the Regulators. For it is just not my ideal's but theirs as well. Hence why we formed that of a strong unity as we have. If you think that I control this union then you are mistaken. It is not I that forces hands to do as I see. i am only here to help guide.
Conflict with any would depend on how adamant their stance may be against us. We are not here to cause strife upon the realm like I once have in the past. We are trying to do all this peacefully under the grand scheme of things. Using your example: If Martin choose to out right try to stop us or go against us, then yes, there would most likely be conflict. Do we wish that? No. Is that what he is doing now? No. If he does are we willing to sacrifice one person or a few for that of the greater "good"...or for a better life where all may co-exist? Yes. Regardless of a person being "good" or "evil", one must make a stance of what they believe to be for the betterment of life as a whole. This though falls upon everyone that would be agaisnt us. For we will not exclude any in this.
We are not trying to take over anything. We are just trying to give to all a better, more secure life to everyone. One that will unify all together, under one strength and give unto them peace. One can be apart of another organization and yet still believe and follow and ensure order and the Ideals we wish to spread.
How can a person truely give "proof" of one's change. They cannot. But a certain comfort can be reached around the person that would make you feel that there is "proof". I am how I am. We all sacrifice a bit of ourselves to accomplish what we seek. You can either trust me or that of my Allies and why they made the decision you still doubt.
I do hope that you will have people come to meetings. You can also bring as many as you like. The world may not be just black and white, but then you ask yourself what is then towards the better life? I do hope that you see what I say, to be true. For it is not forwarded by my hand, but by us all. We are one.
Since you like to speak plainly, and so do I. I also hope that you reconsider...for it could indeed look more favorably towards your discussions with Vesper. I personally do not look well to the fact that you are trying to bargain for some power in vesper after moving there when it is controlled by my ally. But like I said. We all make some sort of sacrifice.
Look forward to your presence to learn more about us when we gather.

After writting the message and sending it out the window tied to the leg of one of his hawks, he went ofver to the maps to look at vesper. More importantly to the chess piece signifying Arcanna. "I hope that you do wish to join on your own accord...but either way. Think carefully my dear...think carefully on what you feel to be the wisest step." |

Lord Tarothin:
While we are speaking plainly, you letter holds a contradiction I wish clarified. On the one hand you claim but to be guided by the wishes of your allies. On the other, you speak of your "personally not looking well" upon my actions in Vesper with a particular significance, as well as of my own decision toward reconsidering your alliance as increasing my chances of success in forging a Vesper Council. Lia has already given me her word that she will sign the treaty creating the Council. Does not Lia guide her own guild's internal affairs? One does begin to wonder.
While I could have gone to Vesper with an army at my back, I have instead come with a peace treaty and gifts of friendship. I ask for friendship, freely given, without threat of force, something you ought consider in your desire for world peace.
Perhaps we may come to understand each other better once I attend more of your meetings. It is my hope that this will be so.
Respectfully,
~Lady Arcana Arryn~ |

Lady Arcanna,
Tis of no contradiction at all. Can not an ally express concern over what it seems to be an easy way to gain power within a town? Can not an ally express concern when that guild may go against the union we are all apart of, letting an outsider just seemingly take hold of something they have nothing really to bargain with?
Yes, you are going there as a friend and doing things peacefully. But you seem to make things appear too easy if one thinks that they could move into someone's territory, bi-pass allies, and gain a piece of control over a city that has been governed by one for so long. In my eye's, Lia holds full control and has of that city for quite some time. In my eyes, to be apart of a city, one should wait and settle in first, doing things for that city or land until then the person who control's it see's what good you bring to it and then offer a seat of power within to you. The way you seek is almost the same as the way I sought with Luna but less violent.
Lia does have control of Vesper and can definitly make up her own decision. But what you don't quite get it seems is that all those in the Regulators are one. One's concern is everyones. And I am allowed to express mine.
And yes technically you could have come in with an army. But that city is fully protected by the Regulators and you would indeed have had your hands full. Your only true option of success would be to do so peacefully, so do not play that you could have done so another way. You also forget that that city is protected by the Regency, since Lia is high advisor to lord Rufus. It would be worse folly then it was when I tried to force my way into Luna.
I am wishing for a friendly way to all this. And I do stand my ground on my concerns. Lia has ultimately the final decision in all of this. Vesper is in the guardians control, and like I said. We are one. And so if she did choose either way. We would respect her decision regardless of how we may feel, as long as order is kept on your part. Like I said. We all make sacrifices.
Perhaps we will come to a full understanding ...after all.

Lord Tarothin:
If you truly wish for my alliance, then you must earn my trust. Letters are only a beginning.
I invite you and two of your guests to visit at my home outside Vesper. I suggest next week, perhaps Tuesday after eight thirty in the evening.
Until then,
~Lady Arcana Arryn~

Lady Arcanna,
I look forward to the visit. And I understand well what you say about trust. For in this type of an alliance, it is crucial more so then others.
