Valkor didnt know that Poet's Garden was hosting a party. He mechanically walked in as he always did and looked for a table, only to be stopped dead in his tracks by someone he hadnt seen in a while, but thought of every day. Earendil didnt look a day older. Ashamed, he tried to leave without catching her attention but failed. He reluctantly sat with her, and after much talk began to realize that he still loved her. It was apparent the feelings was mutual. Later that night, he had brought up the subject of marriage to her parents. Never having to do this before, Valkor nervously hoped he hadnt broken some unwritten rule or unseen tabboo when dealing with them.
Valkor now sat at his bed, hoping he could get Earen's family's trust again. And also hoping Bailos didnt show up when he was around his loved ones. Valkor shudders...he would not let that happen. He'd find some way to control himself if the time came. |

He sat......Alone in his tower.....What he had once turned from a delapatated old cathedral, was now gathering dust and vines quickly....Ever since his "time" at Charnel Hill, he grew ever less interested in his work back home. Now on second level of the Cathedral, sitting where the altar used to be on a makeshift throne of an odd combination of granite and bone.
The torches in the back of the room were now quite dim and the chamber was now quite dark except for two shafts of light that came down from overhead casting a rather profound light on the area surrounding this throne. Ther Bailos sat. Slouching, with an elbow resting on the throne propping his head up, and his other hand was tracing a circle on top of the skull that had been converted into the end of the armrest.
There he sat, thinking aloud about Valkor's predictament as he looked off twords a bubble of energy that hung in the air on the opposite end of the chamber, locked on to Valkor, showing his every movement.
"Married eh? Not on my watch!"....tracing more circles on the skull, he kept watching, furrowing his brow as Valkor sat at the tavern.
"I'll have your hands stained red with murder after murder, before I relinquish you, my child. I own you!"
As he straightened up his posture he waved the bubble of energy off and it turned a lucid, clear color and the image faded. Looking up the shaft of light at the quiet Malas sky, Bailos began to laugh, louder and louder, throwing his hands up in the air with joy as he cackled! An etheral killer at his disposal, none the wiser to an alternative! His enemies would soon disappear, and him none to blame! |

The pieces were in place. Bailos had assigned Valkor a series of ludicrous tasks to perform, with the promise of release from his power.
Valkor vanquished the foes of Bailos without remorse,
doing it all for his future family. Bailos had told him what would happened if he failed...Bailos would take their future firstborn child from them. At this thought, Valkor had seethed with anger and overkilled the mage lord Bazerion, another victim in this sick plot.
When all was done, Valkor couldnt help but feel that it wasnt this easy. Would Bailos truly release him? Valkor doubted it, and decided he would make a plot of his own for insurance... |

Earendil never really knew how she would feel, or what would happen, if she saw Valkor again, only that her world had been dark and dismal since he disappeared from it. That he suddenly showed up at her birthday party, even though he did not realize it was being held, was rather a shock. By the end of the party, however, even though it was rudely interupted and ended by the threat of a raid, Earendil felt as if her world had come back into daylight.
Now that it was a few days later, the reality of what happened, and what her future could hold, had fully set in. Yet there was something lurking, nagging at the back of her mind, that there was something.... dark.. something.... amiss... She did not know what it was. She did somehow know that her simple little world may not be simple for much longer. She knew there would be times of danger, of trials, of nights staying up, waiting for Valkor to come back from a battle, and worrying for his safety. But it was a small trade for the warm joy she finally felt once more. She wondered what the thing was that was nagging at her mind, but she also felt that it would manifest itself.. soon... _________________

Valkor and the fellow army of frontier members huddled up outside the garden, Valkor explaining the situation to them. "Dont take yer swords out! You're just escorting me."
When they arrived, they saw that Bailos was already waiting for them, with many Ebon skullers at hand. "We dont allow trash around here usually" Admoreth seethed. Bailos apologized and gated the to the old Azeroth headquarters.
Once there, Valkor held out a bag of grim contents, all from victims Bailos forced him to eliminate. "Why all the others?" Bailos asked, annoyed. Valkor sarcastically turned around "Oh...these guys? Who are they? Bah they must have followed me..."
Valkor thought of Earen. Bailos read his mind, "why didnt you take her with you? This isnt a joyous occasion?"That question did not have to be answered...Valkor would never endanger her to the likes of this man.
Given the contents of the bag, a paladin's head, a murderer's head, a golden skull and a tome...Bailos laid them out and performed a ritual, combining the heads into the skull, chanting from the tome. Valkor and the others looked on in awe at the power...even the slaves seemed unsettled.
Touch it Valkor" Bailos taunted to him. Valkor touched the skull, and immediately was shocked with energy. Valkor fell to his butt. Bailos to his
knees. Had it been done?
Later, a shaken Valkor felt that something was wrong. He, Nephi and Vaughn quickly returned to the temple of the ebon skull. There Bailos and Darmug sat, grins on their faces. Bailos still held Valkor's soul. After a confrontation ending with Nephi's quick sword, Bailos surrendered his dark prank. After returning Valkor to himself...they quickly departed.
None but Bailos know what lies ahead, but all is well for Valkor to get married...finally |
