It was late, later than Leshok was usely up, but he had lots of paper work to finish. He was finishing a small report when a quiet voice behind him caught his attention. When he looked it was a small girl, couldn't be older than thirteen, who was leaning against the wall in a very shy manner. "Excuse me M'lord, but is it true that Stormhaven is being rebuilt?" the girl asked no louder than a whisper.
Leshok smiled and nodded to the girl as he spoke "Aye little miss, tis be true."
She smiled a little and said "Who would I talk to about it?"
"Well that would be me, please come in and have a seat" Leshok replied putting his book away. "What would you like to know?"
She came in and sat down and revealed that she wanted to join Stormhaven. Leshok was intrigued as to why someone so young wanted to join, so they talked about it for a good while. After a good while of conversation it was agreed that she would return later with her mother and talk to him about joining.
As she left Leshok sat back in his chair and scratched his chin "The daughter of Charles Everblue hmmm" _________________ After all these years, I'm still putting up with Kuja and Vaen? whats wrong with me?

Nadia was pleased with her talk to Leshok. She made her way back to her home. Alizia was sitting looking through some papers when Nadia went up to her.
"I went mother."
She says awaiting for Alizia's reaction. Ali just looked up at her daughter with a raised brow as she tilted her head..she had forgotten that her daughter mentioned about visiting Stormhaven sometime this week.
"You went where?"
She inquired as she pushed back from the table awaiting her daughter's response.
"Stormhaven."
The voice that came was determined yet hesistant. Alizia just sighed shaking her head.
"With whom did you speak to?"
Alizia asked while gesturing to a chair that sat across from her. Nadia slowly moved to the seat and settled down on it.
"Leshok. He was quite nice and pleasant."
She said with some hope in her voice and a half smile along her lips.
"Does he know everything?"
Alizia looked upon her daughter. She could not fault her for wanting to be apart of something her father was apart of long ago. But she wasn't sure what the new rulers of Stormhaven are like or how close they were to the departed Queen. Nadia sighed as she looked down at the hem of her shirt playing with it.
"I told him somethings mother. It wasn't like I joined. I just talked with him. Nothing more nothing less. I think he would much prefer to speak with you anyways."
Alizia just let out a deep sigh listening to her daughter.
"Alright sweetie. I shall speak to him. But do not get your hopes up. Your father, Mark will probably wish to say a thing or two about it as well."
Nadia looked up at her mother. How could she have forgotten Mark. Would he give her permission to join? What happens if he were to deny her the chance. A frown caress her soft features at the thought. Nadia was about to say something when Alizia continued on.
"And I will have to tell him everything. Including the reasoning why the House of Everblue left Stormhaven. Depending on what this Leshok man sees as the truth..he may not wish to have you in the folds of his kingdom."
Nadia just nodded slowly.
"I know mother. And I didn't tell him that either."
She reached up to rub her left shoulder abit. Alizia looks upon her daughter. How she had Charles' eyes and his hair. As well as his stubborness. She could not help but to laugh at the thought of the grown up Nadia. Nadia looked at her mother with slight raised brow.
"What is so funny?"
Nadia believing her mother was laughing at what Leshok would say when he finds out about the reason Charles left Stormhaven.
"Nothing dear, its just..you are so much like your father, I pity the enemies of Stormhaven."
She says as she got up offering Nadia a wink and a hug. Alizia was curious as she took her hand and pulled Nadia's shirt down abit. There upon her left shoulder was the mark. It was still there, heart shaped with the odd coloring of yellow. She kisses Nadia's forehead.
"Its getting late. You should best be off to bed. You can sleep in our room tonight. Your father and I wont be sleeping. We have a guest that we must entertain all night."
She says with a sigh and a hurt look in her eyes.
"Tomorrow you return to your aunt's home in Yew."
Nadia nods kissing her mother on the cheek as she heads up the stairs. Indeed it went better than she had expected. As she got ready for bed, she looked upon the axe that her father left and sighs. Placing it near the bed she climbs in and closes her eyes.
"Visit me again tonight father."
She says in a soft whisper in hopes it would be carried to his spirit...soon slumber took over. _________________ "Nature gave man two ears but only one tongue. A gentle reminder that he should listen more than he speaks." |
