Dearest Mallory,

I know not what happened last night! Last I knew I was standing infront of the Abyss and we were talking about Lord British, and then I woke up in the very same spot. Did I fall in? And get brought back out? Did I disappear?

I apologize for this happening. It doesn't happen very often, though there have been cases where people seem to just turn into a statue, and then disappear. Is that what happened to me?

These lands are strange sometimes. Please forgive me for last night, and I will see you at some point during the day.

With Care,
Vaen

Mallory returned from her errands in Moonglow and checked the message box in the front of the Garden. She pulled out the one letter and went upstairs to put away her items.... she had picked up some fresh herbs for in the kitchen and some of Mister Poet's special blend pipe weed and she needed to replenish the flour and honey supply after making so many cookies. After everything was put away she went down to the office and took the letter out of her bag. As soon as she opened it she sighed with relief and smiled. She and Vaen had been out walking after the party last night when he had suddenly vanished. She had peered over the edge calling to him, but he didn't answer. She ran back to the Tavern and told Rryn and Mister Poet what had happened and they all went back to the spot where he had dissappeared. There was still no sign of him so the went back to the Garden and Mallory had decided that she had simply said something that made him leave. She was glad to hear that it hadn't been something she had said... She pulled a piece of parchment from the shelves and began writing...

Dear Vaen,
I was so scared last night when we could not find you. I thought maybe you had fallen over the side while I was looking away. I waited for as long as I could and then Mister Poet insisted I go to bed and he was sure I would hear from you. I was afraid those skulls had done something to you... You are forgiven, but there is nothing to forgive. Perhaps next time we go for a walk we shouldn't go so close to the edge. I shall be around later, but I need to pick up a delivery of silk in the new lands for Miss Cat and then in Moonglow I have an order in for some blank scrolls for Mister Poet. I do hope to see you.

Affectionately,
Mallory Rowdep

She took the parchment and rolled it up and grinned as she tied it with a very pretty pink ribbon before sending it with the Tavern messenger to Vaen... he would get a laugh she thought...

Vaen was walking around the Golden Scales, trying to come up with ideas on what to do for Saturday's Holiday Party. He enjoyed the one at Poet's Tavern, and would like people to enjoy themselves just as much, if not more, than they did that night. But that would be hard, as everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. Just then, a man came up into the tavern.

"Vaen Swiftar?" said the messenger.

"That is I..." Vaen replied.

"A message for you tied in pretty pink, from the lady Mallory."

Vaen smiled as he heard who it was from. But then he realized the ribbon tied to the letter.

"... pink?"

The messenger handed Vaen the letter and then took off.

Vaen looked at the ribbon tied to the letter and laughed a little. He then read the letter and nodded to himself. Looking back at the ribbon, he smirked, "Oh this'll be good."
