*the following letter is addressed to the Black Knights of Malas, Rosar and Toren in particular*

Rosar, Toren and the Black Knights,

After due deliberation and consideration of your offers and our terms for a pact, I have deemed our potential partnership....decidedly null. Your services will no longer be needed. My decision and the decision of the Ebon Council is subject to change however, should the circumstances allow. I'm sure you can decipher how to contact us should the need arise.

Until then, please avoid encroachment on the territorites of The Order, Umbra, and her surrounding territories. Leniancy is something we no longer wish to practice.

*signed plainly*

Rosar frowned as he read the newly-arrived letter before him. A disappointment, for certain, but not unexpected. He called out "In Bet Flam" and snapped his fingers, and magefire instantly consumed the letter, leaving only bits of ash, which he swept to the floor with the top of his hand.

At the moment, there was nothing for him to do. He knew what he wanted, however, and he had always gotten what he wanted. So, for now, he would wait and watch for the opportunity he needed.

Rosar removed a paper from the top of the stack on the desk and set it in front of him. He took a pen and dipped it into an inkwell, then quickly drafted a letter in reply:

Bailos:

I am sorry we could not come to an arrangement. Know that I am first and foremost a businessman, and if we cannot do business, then I will take that business elsewhere. I'm sure you understand.

R.S.

Rosar opened a drawer in his desk and removed a stick of red wax, a length of knotted black cord and a metal disc. He set the cord upon the disk, the knot near the center. He recited his incantation again, setting the end of stick alight. He allowed the melted wax to drip into the hemisphere, over the cord, forming a ring. He let the rest drip into the middle, filling the ring. He picked up the metal seal nearby and pressed it into the wax, holding it for a few moments before removing it, leaving a perfect impression of a sword and then let it dry. Satisfied, he carefully removed the seal from the disc and took another object from the drawer - a circular metal container - and placed the seal within it, stringing the cord through a hole in the side. He threaded the cord through holes in the letter and folded the parchment into thirds, then wound the cord and container around it. He placed the sealed letter into a box on his desk. Aynora would deliver it to Umbra later.
