|
I write here an account of what happened at the Stormhaven citadel on Sunday evening.
King Finian arrived for the scheduled evening meeting, but no other Stormhaven personnel came. Soon he noticed someone moving about in the smithy and he investigated.
The woman he met there was dressed all in white, and white the color of her hair and skin. He bade her welcome to Stormhaven and remarked she must be a spirit of some kind.
She introduced herself as the Provider. She said she provided food, shelter, and love. She offered these things to Finian. He thanked her but said serving Stormhaven met all these needs. After a short discussion the Provider's eyes glowed red, she angrily denounced Finian and told him doom was coming. Then she vanished.
The king sounded his horn and Gohan of the Paladin of Virtues Guild and Caramel Jaguar of the Mystic Knights quickly responded, with Labelle of the Paladin of Virtues Guild close behind. Gohan and Caramel rode patrol around the citadel while the king and Labelle waited at the foot of the stairs.
An armored woman appeared and Finian welcomed her to Stormhaven. She named herself the Bane of Stormhaven. Finian nodded and said I am ready for whatever comes. The Bane disappeared.
Melony Veersin came to resupply at the vendors there and stayed to watch what happened. Presently the Provider came to Finian again and told him his friends could not stay for long and doom would come when they left. Then she vanished again.
Finian considered her words and realized the "doom" feared the strength of arms that rallied around him. He told his allies they could go because the enemy was not coming. They reluctantly agreed and left, except Melony, who remained as a spectator.
Within a minute of their departure, Gron'teg of the Stormreavers rode up. He declared, Finian, you are sentenced to die and attacked without further ado. Finian barely got his shield on and his maul Lightning in hand before he had to run or die on the spot. He spurred Bucephalus to the top of the stairs and whirled about to face Gron'teg, now ready to fight the orc.
Kal'rak of the Stormreavers joined Gron'teg and both assailed the king. Soon they laid the king low and hastily sped away. Finian soon arose and tended his wounds.
Scriber came and wanted to hear all that happened. She said she knew of the Provider, who was an elemental created ages ago by the ancients. She expressed amazement that the Provider spoke to the king for she was said to never speak to mortals.
One last note. The Provider left Finian a hat which she made herself, for she is a weaver. She had once left Scriber a skirt. What these gifts (?) mean no one knows. |
