Good sir,
It has come to my attention you have had a past transgression with the Lady Ivy. Her status of Mayor of Umbra has been nullified and she is branded a traitor to Umbra and its people. I will be picking up where I feel has been left off.
It is the decision of myself and my most trusted avisors and peers that your rule over the city of Zento is harmful to all parties involved. We welcome you to remain as registered citizens with all the benefits and rights that are afforded with the title however. A representative to help the transition will be send shortly to assume control until more formal arrangements are made. He will of course be carrying instructions and suggestions for you and a check for one lump sum of money that we feel covers the expenses and some of the hassle associated with the relocation.
Should you chose to take advantage, we will secure you private real estate at a safe and desirable location, well suited to the tastes of a noble such as yourself.
Myself or my council of advisors may be reached at the City Offices of Umbra during regular business hours should you have any questions.
*signed ornately*
The Honorable
Lord Bailos Myrdra
Acting Mayor of Umbra
*tacked on below, seemingly added as an afterthought*
P.S. As a friendly, personal reminded, resistance to this process will only result in greater harm for the whole of Zento, and as such resistance will be met with the most cruel of intentions |

Otto was in the dojo training with some of the recruits. He spied the messenger coming in and went to greet him, he claimed to have a letter for Tai. Otto took the letter and gave the messenger a few coins. He opened the letter and started reading as he made his way back upstairs to where he had left the others. "This will not sit well at all with Master Tai" he thought to himself. The others Asked what was wrong as Ottos mouth hung agape whilst he read. Not wanting to alarm or inform the others untill Tai could be spoken to, he lied and told them that it was nothing important and that they should return to training. He called over a trusted member, "Shingen, I need you to run and fetch Master Tai at once. Do not delay. Once he is found, please then find Rryn and have her come to the dojo as well." Shingen ran across to the stable, mounted his horse and rode off in great haste. |

When all had gathered, and after Rryn had translated the letter into kanji for Tai, he read it.
Tai chuckled, "So many want to control the Islands."
Taking calligraphy brush in hand, Tai answered the letter.
Mayor Bailos,
As the mayor of Umbra you will understand the Council's policy about foreign powers claiming the Islands of Tokuno, and the city of Zento.
Let the Council be very clear. We do not dictate your laws in Umbra. You, and yours as outsiders, will not dictate ours.
The Council does not accept your offer, nor do I.
Your words approach open hostilities between the Council and your clan in Umbra.
We welcome all who approach in peace.
The Council of the Sleeping Dragon is currently closed to any outsiders sitting on it. We do not find any unrest in the people of Zento now that an actual governing body of the Samurai Clans has united the poeple and the lands.
If you are stating open agression, and are not already undead, I will be sure and rectify that situation.
I hope you and yours are having a productive day.
Tai Kwan Leap

Receiving his mail from the Offices of Umbra, Bailos makes a curt reply
Good Tai,
I fear your eyesight is poor. The Order of the Ebon Skull does not wish to impose It's will or domain over Zento, it's people or the lands of Tokuno. This is a diplomatic act which will right the ship that you are trying so hard to sink. Not all of us are blind to the spinning gears of politics. The representative on the way is not a member of The Order and is in fact a citizen of Zento himself. He has chosen to commute daily and work for me.
This is not an offer subject to approval or disagreement. Myself, my associates or the representatives of Umbra's government do not covet control of Zento or your Council. The Regency's arm will have grown long indeed if you think the citizens of Tokuno will allow a loyalist to be at the spearhead of their government. This is a movement of peace, to establish a time tested system of republican government while retaining traditional values of the Tokuno Islands.
Our representative will arrive in due time. |
