|
She arrived to Vesper, late in the eve. The trek from the Holy Church, invigorating, each step. Approaching the first town houses, she wrapped a length of linen twice round the area between her nose and chin. She gloved her hands, and wore a heavy robe. Her hand held the linen in place as she walked south, through the city. Most people did not glance her, surely others had come so garmented, for fears of contracting the scourge.
She arrived to the Ironwood Inn, just at last light. It were not her intentions to stay on in the city, but she sought a messenger, to deliver parchment to the lady of Vesper, Lia L. The recommended woman was paled, setting to a corner near the empty bookshelves. The Innkeeper motioned her, and she stood slowly, weakened by the afflictions, so many were in the city. LaBelle bowed her head to the woman, and removed a small parchment from her waist belt. Speaking muffled through the linen, she directed her words to the lady messenger, “ Milady will take this unto the lady Of Vesper, Lady Lia L.” LaBelle reached in a loosely tied pouch at her waistline, “ Place this to your mouth, it will ease your symptoms some.” She dropped a small porous sack filled with poulticed herbs to the woman’s thin hand. Bowing her head once more, she stepped away with a nod to the Innkeeper, and headed west along the path towards Minoc.
She strode for a time, until she could not longer smell the stifled sickness in the air. Beneath a tree not far from the path she arranged bed rolls, and took rest for the night. LaBelle gazed the vastness and unending depth of the heavens with an endearing smile to her lips. Sleep belonged to her this night, and beneath the stars, such as new loves awe, repose was her shelter.
She would arrive to Minoc by the following day’s end, stay on perhaps three days before leaving to Yew.
She could only pray that Vesper would be healed, and held hope the nearest city of Minoc would be to their aid.

Milady Lia L.,
You must forgive my passing
through the city, without
the pleasures of your
company.
I am but one small woman to come
offering, I have spoken to a man
who belongs to the Minoc guardians.
I have implored him seek aid to
rally from Minoc, relief is but a
city away. If favors can not be
sent, perhaps the well can be
received as refugees, until
Vesper is cured.
This lady knows good that you are
caring for you peoples,
Milady. If Minoc can help as
well, perhaps it will ease
the suffering that much
more.
Milady, remain safe, until we
next meet.
Yours Faithfully,
~Lady LaBelle~
