Mallory sat beside the calm waters and wished that Vaen was there to enjoy the lovely spring evening. The birds were singing and the waves lapped the shore gently making for a very lovely song of nature. She pulled out a parchment and began writing…
March 21st
Dearest Vaen,
I hope that this letter finds you well. Today I woke up happier than I have been in a very long time. As I laid there I thought about the many blessings that surround me. There are Tai and Rryn, the newlyweds. To see them so happy makes me happy. They have gone through so much together and they have never forgotten their love for each other. I look at them and only hope that I will one day… Their wedding ceremony was lovely. It was on a lovely bridge and Miss Ivae had placed many lovely flowers around. I was most honored to have been asked to perform the ceremony. I was a bit worried at first, when Rryn told me that it was to be in their language, but thankfully only the vows were in their language. The only downfall was that you could not be there, but Leshok told me you had been called away on very important business and hoped you could make it up to me. I didn’t know what he meant, but I certainly look forward to seeing you soon. I hope that the gift I chose was okay. It was a simple bonsai tree, to me resembling any relationship. It was delicate and required a lot of time and energy and care, but it was well worth it. After the wedding I had a nice, discussion with Leshok before returning to the wedding party and then returning home. It is good to have a friend to talk to.
I will be at the Garden tonight, and would love your company later, if you have the time. Perhaps I can steal away for a walk so we may talk. It has been a long time since we have talked, rather than read words from each other.
All my love,
Mallory
Mallory looked out at the water and noticed the sun was a little lower in the sky. Soon it would be time to head to the Garden and get ready for the evening crowd. She hoped that Vaen would come and see her. Vaen. How she missed seeing him, and being with him. When they were together the time flew by, but when they were apart the hours seemed as days. She knew that he loved her, and she loved him with all of her heart, but how she wished they had more time together. Perhaps soon they would find a way to be togther.
She recalled to the Garden and sought out the messenger and handed him the letter tied with a light pink and green ribbon entwined. She gave him a few gold coins and instructions to deliver it to Vaen on Legion Island, and gave him a small pouch of cookies to deliver to the stronghold for all to share. _________________ Good friends are like stars.
