Much to Kotare's suprise, he wakes up in an open field of tall grass. The morning sunshine, giving him the first moments of warmth and a plesant waking, startled him. He was unsure of where he was. He looked himself over, he was dressed in his decorative armor, which bore the powers of the arcane, making the need for reagents unessesary. He climbs to his feet and looks around seeing the familiar trees of Yew.

"I'm free? How? Why?" he thought. He could not answer his own questions. The night before, all he could remember is a deep hunger for food and marking on the prison wall how many days he had been in captivity. He had lost count resently and was unsure how long he has been away from home. His first steps were a bit clumsy as the blood was working to circulate through his legs. He reached a treeline and noticed the all to familiar path that would lead him into town.

As he walked slowly, being on his guard for orcs and bandits, he began to feel very uneasy. He tried to push this feeling to the back of his mind as he focused more on where he was going. But still, something seemed out of place. Something didn't belong. Yet, he could not place it.

He reached the town square where the normal daily rutine would have the commoners hawking their wares and farmers tending to their fields. Yet, he had not encountered anyone. He entered the butchers, only to find everything in its proper place. Except for the butcher, who was no where to be found. "Odd for this time of day." Kotare thought. He knew the town butcher would be preparing meats this time of day. Kotare then decided to walk over to the Fur trader's place. Along the way, no living creature could be found. No birds chirping, no dogs barking. Not even the children were out playing.

Upon arriving at the fur trader's place, he noticed piles of leather's and furs waiting to be tended to. Yet even the occupants of this business were no where to be seen. By now, the walk seemed to take half the day and the high burning sun was a bit hotter than normal. But that seemed to be the least of Kotare's worries as he now raced to the Abby. No one was there. The Monks, gone. The Banker and Minter, gone. Yet like all the other places, everything seemed to be in its proper place. The only things missing were the towns citizens.

Kotare wandered for hours until dusk began to settle. By this time, he was shouting names of those he knew. Names of friends and family. But not even the wind graced him with an answer. It was dead silent. Yew was a ghost town. Even worse was when he tried to walk through the public moongate, he always ended back at Yew. He tried walking to Britan, but the woods of Yew seemed never ending. He would turn back to head back into the city of Yew only to find it a few paces away. As the night fell, Kotare made himself a campfire, in the center of town. He prepared him some food that he scavanged from the butchers, but looking at the supply, he knew he had only a few days to survive.

"I shall try the sea tomorrow. Hopefully, there is a ship anchored nearby." He thought. Tired from his travels and confussion, sleep came easily to him, even if it was an uneasy sleep. Yet from the darkness, peering at him were a set of deep crimson glowing eyes. Eyes in which only evil could claim. And so the night began with Kotare under the watchful eye of darkness. Alone and confussed, Kotare's sleep would be undesturbed, yet, unpleasant...

"There is no movement at Thaxstadt, M'Lady." the young man in green stated to Lilyth. She nodded slowly not allowing the least bit of emotion to cross her face.

"You have checked the Orc Fort as well?", she queried

"Yes Ma'am, all is quiet there also, they seem to have disappeared." he answered solomnly. "We have no leads M'Lady I am sorry."

Lilyth dismissed the man with several hundred gold coins for expenses and instruction not to give up the hunt. As the door closed she sunk into her chair and wept. She was alone again, her thoughts turned to Kotare and thier plans. "Foolish", she thought to herself, "hapiness was never the life intended for me I knew that. I doomed him." the words rang in her head.

She climbed the stairs to the gardens and looked out over the sea, it had returned him once, perhaps it would again. If only he had not traded his imortality for her love. As the moon glittered on the waves Lilyth straightened herself , wiped her tears and hardened herself against the comming month and years.

"There is work to be done yet" with a resolve that was less than enthusiastic Lilyth made her way to meet Lord Porthos at the Abbey to discuss matters between Yew and the Regency.
