Rufus sat staring blankly at the new markings on his fists. In his most recent trips to Umbra's Well of Souls his progress in his pursuit of Spiritmancy had influenced new runic markings about his arms. He knew he was nearing the end of his lesson and Gundeth was upon him. But he knew, that with these changes, he must attempt to correct the grievances that weight heavy upon his heart. His fear was that with these changes; associated with existing anger and confusion would come a taint that he could nay lose, though he felt in control...

He chewed on his lip a bit, before standing slowly. The markings on his hands burned slightly as he moved, almost warning of the conclusion of his trip. Rufus knew that he would secure a new understanding of things with this new 'power'. Still he did worry of many things; Rashid had reported on the safety of Ameer, and that his stay in Zento was a peaceful one. The divorce with Sarah was entering the beginning stages, though the thought left an empty feeling inside Rufus; and lastly, Nujel'm's status. But the sky is always darkest before the sun shines....

He chewed on his lip for a moment, as he conjured his Ethereal mount and slowly trotting south of his home, toward Malas. Rufus's body moved rhythmically with the spiritual mount's movements. His mind was clear, he would begin anew after his completion of this training. He had been forewarned long ago, that Spiritmancy does not control he who harnesses it, it is a gift as any other thing...and is in the student to use it as he may. But soon, he would see it at a level that Alarin knew...the irony of it all.

He pushed forward through the forests of Malas, he noticed the the trees darkened around him, almost lifeless but energetic still...He was approaching Umbra. The city seemed exceptionally quiet...not a passerby in sight; this would only add to Rufus's focus on his goal. He could feel how close he was to accomplishing this, and as he approached the well..energies surged through his body, solidifying his confidence. He waved his hand, wishing away his mount...he took in a deep breath and rubbed the marking under his eye before he walked into the darkened nook located in the outer hills of the city.

"Allow me to exit whole, Mother Ssithnos...." He spoke softly as he walked blindly into the earth. The burning braziers lowered as Rufus entered, commanding the attention of its inhabitants. He had grown comfortable amongst the angst and frustration of these spirits....Chaos it seemed. He closed his eyes, taking in a deep, burning sensations running through his veins. The deep trance that he was accustomed to had become easier to enter. Embracing the souls was less fearful, but still required concentration. His usual visions took over...Darkness, dull hues dancing about within that...Strands of gold...Ember-like crimson...And his concentration became deeper still. His body slowly fell to the ground in a kneeling position; his body slumping forward a bit, lowering his head.

The hues became more vibrant and exciting...The souls about the chamber roared and screeched as Rufus entered this trance. They drew close to his body, almost flying into him as if to push him from his state of 'consciousness'. But in his mind...things remained quiet. His practice was paying off. He cleared his mind as his body shook, taking in short deep breaths, falling deeper into his state of 'sleep'. A vibrant red bolt, shot through the darkness of his mind, and his body fell over, hitting the soft dirt inside the well...The ultimate clarity filled his head as he entered a motionless limbo...

He had been forewarned long ago, that Spiritmancy does not control he who harnesses it, it is a gift as any other thing...and is in the student to use it as he may.
