Evoroth was in his private room within the high and mighty walls of the gargoyle city reading the same pages over and over again. He wasnt sure what it was but he was on the virge of discovering where his adventure for Heartwood would lead him next. So preoccupied had he been over the last few days with other matters obtaining items he needed and working his spellcasting skills in preparation for anything he may face on this facet that he was so unfamiliar with.

He was interupted abruptly by a loud knock on the door. "Come in Nazerda." He calmly said without even looking up at the door. The door slipped open, and a tall and bulky Gargoyle walked through.
"I do not get it my lord, what gift is it that you know who is on the other side of the door all the time?"
"Naz, I only wish I knew, over the last few weeks in this ciy, all I know is my eyes glow blue more frequently, and I suddenly can feel people in my surroundings even rooms away just by touching the walls, and I can almost see in my mind what is going on around the city."
"The ancients of our kind were as powerful as that, before the wars and the liberation of our city we had very powerful citizens who could hurl spells over the moutainsides over great distances." Noticing that he was trailing away from the subject as he often did, Naz stood back up straight and began delivering the news that he came to speak with Evo about. "Sir, our city patrols reported this morning that the old power core outside the city walls and south of the desert started working today."
"What," Evo looked up most shocked.
"Thats right, it just unfolded at the top and began moving again, just like during the war. Still the same random creatures down there, it hasnt looked like and ything made it start up."
"Yes Naz, someone did make it start and that makes sense now." Standing up quickly Evo raised a hand and a Tome from his shelf flew toward him and stopped prefectly and opened itself in mid air in front of him. Suddenly after a moment he looked up and over and Naz. "Prepare the soldiers, I believe I caused he core to start up, however I dont know why, there is no explantaion. The only way that makes sense is if the core was an ancient creation of the elves and the power surges is what is necessary to open the gateway to heartwood. However, based on my knowledge of the discovery of illshenar, I thought the core was created and used by Blackthorne... Quick gather up some soldiers, well go secure the core and Ill stay down there for the next days until I figure out why it is on."
"Yes sir, Ill have all the conscripts gathered at once, shall we meet within the city?"
"No you will meet me there after everything is dead and simply secure the borders so nothing wonders in, I can deal with the denizens of the waste lands just fine alone."

Evo walked up the stairs of the power core, he had already slain most of the wandering inhabitants that walked the areas. He was confident the patrols of the gargoyles were far behind. As he reached the third tier of the tower in the core, three Wizards ran around the side and began casting on Evo, he could tell they were more powerful then the ignorant lurking beasts below, but in the grand scheme of things they too were lesser.
He raised his hands, in the left hand he made the mace that he was holding shift into his bone harvester. The first mage he pointed his fingers toward and simply created a burst of energy that pushed him backwards off the side, the second wizard rubbish a firball at him which disipated as it drew close to him. Evo reached up above his head and caused a whole barrage of lighting bolts to come down crashing on that one. Finally the third teleported up the the top tier near the surges of energy and tried to shoot balls of fire and arcs of light at Evo. Evo ascended the last flight of stairs keep his body turned to block the spells and counterspell everything that was being thrown at him. Three months ago this wizard may have presented a problem, but now evo just let the surges of the arcane flow through him and the words just flowed like a beautiful song. He closed his eyes and concentrated allowing whatever power within him to do its job. After a few moments of vigorous casting, he saw that the mage was wearing down, most likely weak, he apparently didnt have the pool of mana that evo had before needing to rest. Not wanting to waste anymore spell casting components, Evo lunged forward and cleaved the head off of the wizard with his harvester.

Finally he was at the core center. The shrieking noises as rusted old mechanisms moved made his ears ring so that he couldnt hardly concentrate. He turned and looked back as he felt the presence of more creatures, but found it was only the small brigade of gargoyles finally approaching. He whispered a few words and made his shield and bone harvester disapear, and then he began to climb atop the generator in the center. Once on top looking down ino it, he saw what he needed to do, the staff he had, this was where it needed to be inserted.

He raised his hands up and began shouting some random incantation, he wasnt sure if he was even speaking what he heard, the words were unfamiliar to him, he wasnt even in control of himself. Suddenly the staff appeared within his grasp and he plunged it into the shaft casueing the whole machine to begine arcing out huge lighting bolts and hurl flaming parts al around it as it began to break down. Evo jumped and attempted to teleport away from the explosions, but suddenly was struck by these terrible arcs of energy. He grasped his head, for he couldnt fell anything, his body was so numb, all he could do was look forward through the brightness and try to take small steps. The finally he was out of breath, exhausted and falling over. Every second he remained in the areas around those energy bolts he was helpess. He fell to the ground reached forward trying to drag himself out, but didnt have the strength. He laid his forhead against the ground gently as he began to shut his eyes. But then another bolt jolted into his body as he laid there helpless, his eyes shut, his body shut down, all he could see where a swarm of images in his head as he laid there near death.

In his mind he saw himself in Nuj'elm, marrying Lady Summer, then suddenly he saw Luna under attack by dark and evil denizens, Then Vaen in trouble outnumbered by some straange enemies. Then his mind began to rush to thoughts of his father, and of Lord British. Finally one last scene went through his head. He was standing above the bodies of many friends, with his shield and mace drawn glaring at there bloody corpses with a smile on his face, and then he looked up and saw lady minax in the skies above him ...... smiling down at him.
