Brianha awoke with a smile on her face feeling the warmth of Vaen next to her. They had spent the night on her rooftop garden, sleeping under the blanket of stars in the sky above. She slowly got up so as to not wake him. She needed something warm to drink as it was a bit chilly in the morning. Going down to her bedroom she gathered a blanket, brought it back up to where Vaen was sleeping and gently tucked it around him. He rolled over but did not wake so she went in search of a warm cup of tea.
With her tea in hand she leaned back and began to sort through her thoughts. There was so much going on in her head it was hard to sort through it all. There were feelings she needed to understand. She had grown close to Vaen over the past weeks and could feel herself drawn to him when he was near. She new she should be more cautious of such feelings for she did not remember their history, but she just felt that it was right between them, as so did the others around them save for Max and Ceinwyn. This put a frown on her face as she thought of his leaving the guild and Ceinwyn’s friendship being hard to maintain due to the others mistrust of her. Brianha knew there was a history between Vaen and Ceinwyn, and she knew the rumors regarding the woman, but she just could not get the feeling out of her head that there was more to it than that. Did he wrong her in some way for her to seek revenge against him? Why else would they suspect her? She knew by the brief exchanges she was allowed to have recently with her, that Ceinwyn was a complex woman. She seemed to care for Bri, and Bri was certain that she would not have followed her to her new house unless she considered her a friend. What bothered her is that first she was a suspect, and second if she did such a thing to a friend what would have driven her to potentially hurt their friendship. There must be something Ceinwyn is harboring if that would be the case. Brianha hoped that finding the ball would reveal nothing save for her own clumsiness and all could be well amongst all of those she began to call friends.
Deciding that she wanted to hear more of Ceinwyns story and to thank her for the kind gift she had given Brianha on her birthday, she decided to send a quick letter to her. She quietly went up to her writing table and hastily wrote the letter so Vaen would not catch her and be upset with her for it.
My dear friend Ceinwyn,
I just wanted to say thank you for the wonderful gifts you bestowed upon me for my birthday. I was like a child in a confectioners shop looking through the box, and now have a hard time deciding what I shall wear for the day. I would love to see you and express my thanks in person. I shall look for you when next I have the opportunity to do so without prying ears and eyes.
Your friend
Brianha
Rolling and tying the letter, she made her way to the front steps and quickly sent it of with a pigeon. She sighed with relief once she was certain Vaen had not woken, and then carefully crawled under the blanket and rested her head on his shoulder waiting for him to wake for the day. |

Ceinwyn received the pigeon as she sat staring out over the frozen expanse. Taking the note from it's letter-case, she set the bird in Max's coop to feed.
A smile played across her face as she read the letter. Truly, she aimed to impress, and one of the best ways is always with a gift. One does have an appearance to maintain. There are always the social niceties to remember.
She went down to the dressing room and sat at the desk to pen a response. She took out some of her homemade paper. Dipping the pen in dyed blood, she quickly wrote a reply to Brianha's letter.
When she was done, she sealed it with the ab'Arawn family crest. She brought it up to the roof, where the pigeon was waiting. She tucked the note into the letter-case and held the pigeon aloft. As it flew home, she marvelled that the bird had the intelligence to pick the correct moongate.
