The morning grew late, the sun shining a hearty warm light down upon the Yew farmland. A young woman dressed in a blue robe walked up towards the farm, approaching the farmers in the field.
"Excuse me," she said with a friendly smile on her face, "I am but a mage student trying to earn some gold, I made a potion I think could help your farm prosper. This potion will make your crops grow faster and healthier. It'll seep into the ground and make future plants grow faster too! All I ask for it is a hundred gold."

The farmer nodded slowly, intrigued. Normally she wouldn't trust wandering mages and their potions in fear of con artists, however this potion seemed to have a healthy green glow to it. It certainly looked magical, not at all like some sort of scam. The farmer quickly ran back to her house for the gold, returned to the field, and purchased the potion from the student. The student smiled brightly and thanked her, and wandered up the path back into town. The farmer turned her attention to the potion now in her hands. She realized she should have asked the student the best way to apply it to the fields, but shruged and figured dripping the potion onto the soil at the base of each plant would be a good way to spread the potion as much as possible. After spreading the potion, the farmer watered the crops to ensure the potion soaked into the ground. The plants began to glow at the base of their stalks within an hour, however they did not appear to be growing any faster just yet. Soon, the sun set, and the farmer finished her work for the day. She looked forward to see the effects of the potion the next day.

They waited until nightfall, watching from the forests with interest. The stalks of the plants glew, they knew the farmer used the potion. Quickly, they set their plans into motion, setting up an elaborate ritual. The leader of the group, a robed skeleton, gathered everyone to the central point of the ritual, placing a charm of tied together blood soaked reagents and a crystal on the ground. Another member, a drow, left to place more charms throughout the area. The skeleton held a staff up, feeling for the linked staff the drow held, then swooped the staff downwards, sending a line of energy in the direction the drow stood at, linking the placed charm to the central one. This continued for four more points, binding them all to the central crystal. It was time for the ritual to begin.

The spell had been prepared the previous night, and the crystals charged with it. The only thing they needed to do was release the energy into the ground. The skeleton gathered the group around him, the drow standing in front of him. They set their staves on the ground next to the crystal, and the skeleton instructed the others on how to channel the energy. They all focused on the crystal, their energy swirling around them and gathering on the crystal, absorbing into it. The energy began to seep into the ground, streams of it flowing out to each of the bound crystals. The group continued to focus, the energy seeping into the ground forming a distinct pentagram shape as it flowed to each of the points. They soon stopped, the skeleton leaning heavily on his staff, weakened from all the energy he had just channeled. Another spellcaster with them gated the others away, while the drow and the skeleton recalled to each of the crystal points to fetch the placed crystals, leaving no trace of their activity.

Within minutes the forest would begin to grow, they made sure to place the corpses of any they found near the growth points, for the forest would soon become overwhelmingly thick, killing anything inable to escape. Indeed, if the spell worked as they had prepared it, the forest would grow at a tremendously rapid pace, eventually strangling itself out as it wore the nutrients out from the soil. Of course, the skeleton didn't expect it to last that long, however the damage would still be there. And the only lead the virtuesworn and elves would have was a mage student sold a potion to some farmers. He finished collecting the crystals and recalled back to the meeting place, leaning against the wall of their cathedral. Resting his skull back against the stone, a quiet sound escaped his skeletal maw: "Etheng...!"

On the way to Heartwood, the Druids encountered something odd in the city of Yew. Maelwyn led them to where she sensed a strange sense of energy. They had not gone far when they came to the thick of the woods. But this was not quite right..

Isn't the thick of the woods more to the south?Maelwyn thought to herself. I am sure of it

She stood there, surrounded by Druids, and studied the woods..

Was it.. It couldn't be.. but yes.. it's quite taller than it was yesterday.. I am postive!

She then began inspecting the trees, examining their bark and branches.

"Dory, go as far west as this goes.. tell me where it ends.. Alon go east and do the same.. Tory.. please, head south... "

She stood staring raptly at the tree she happened to be in front of. Yes, this growth was quite unnatural. The bushes and shrubberies were all huge, as well.

"Malikhia, could you take some samples to be examined later?"

He nodded and went to do just that. Martoo asked to assist, so Maelwyn sent him to help Malikhia.

This was incredible.. the sporadic growth of the woods...

Could it be that the Meer's help to restore Yew has somehow not ended with the removal of the swamp?

When all the Druids had returned from scouting the dense new woods, Maelwyn turned to them.

"My friends, these woods have undergone something very strange, indeed. I have looked at the branches.. see here.. "she indicated a hard-barked section of a branch. "Here, you can see for yourselves. Young, green sapling like branches sprout out of this tree and as you also can see, they end in aged, and weather-hardened branches. The tree has grown so fast, its new bark still hasn't weathered the air. We shall continue to study the samples, to see if we can determine what caused this."

As the Druids entered the gate to Heartwood, Maelwyn looked back over her shoulder. The woods seemed to give off two emotions at once.

Exhultation at rejuvenation.

And Fear.

Heading to the elven lands she passed through the woods towards the teleporter among the main buildings of the town. As she passed she saw much new groath and the underbrush seemed to be much thicker than usual. Her steed who knew the way with out looking seemed to stumble over roots that were not there the day before. She patted her on the mane and slowed her to a stop. Dismounting she looked around at the ground that was now covered with new vines and such.

She decided to take some specimins and find her friends the druids and ask them what they thought of all of this. She took out her daggar and dug up several of what looked like sprouts of this fresh groath and tucked it away in her pack. She would be meeting with them at the Royal Court on Thursday evening. She aborted her plans and headed home to put them in a pot to keep them from dying.
