Black. Everywhere, black. The sky was black, the trees were black.... the grass surrounding the wreckage was black, even the rubble of what was left of the keep was black.

Even the creature was pitch black, save for the two piercing white eyes.

Not a star in the sky. The only trace of color was the red glare from the Feluccan moon. This place is a dump. It needs redecorating. The creature glided smoothly through what was once a massive arch. Nothing was left of the building, just a stone here, a brick there.

Out of the corner of its glowing eye the entity saw the only color within the building -- a white skeleton lying next to what appeared to be a mechanical arm. The entity almost sighed in remembrance. "Home..." it whispered. "What have I done..." Black tendrils flowed from what might have been a body, slithering around it, keeping it afloat. "I only made things better for this world... that's all."

But this isn't your world.

The entity looked up at the tallest remaining pillar. "This isn't my world." The entity glided further into the ruins, its tendrils whipping across nearby stones, a trail of erosion leaving imprints on the stone floor. "This isn't me."

This is what you wanted.

"Not here." The being turned abruptly and moved toward the corner where the skeleton lay. The white lights of eyes narrowed, then vanished, and several tendrils caressed the bones, and the metallic arm next to them. Though its eyes were closed, the being could still see the remains of the human, in a more enlightened phase... it could see the faint fluid haze hovering inches above the ground, and noted the concentration of this "energy" around the bones. The tendrils manipulated the violet-colored haze, drawing more and more into the ribcage until a faint purple light pulsated at the heart of the corpse.

"So this was your big plan for me, master..." the being whispered. "This is the gift you've chosen to give to me." The tendrils withdrew from the lifeless bones, and the light continued to pulsate. The being stared at the skeleton in contemplation. A skeletal finger twitched, almost startling the entity. The black form looked up. Corpus? "Impossible..." The energy of death being used to create life beyond the simplistic methods of necromancy... the being simply could not understand how. "Perhaps there is more to your power than I knew..."

The entity turned away from the skeleton, leaving it once again lifeless on the ground. "I will be back, old friend. In the meantime, I must find my way back.... some day, master, I will return, and deal with those who turned their backs on us..."
