Uther Pendragon was a lonely soul, on a mission to find his identity. He could not remember where he had came from. All he could remember is bits and pieces of his former life he had, and how he came to Britannia. On his journeys, he came upon the land of Ilshenar. There, he learned the ways and customs of the Meer, a catlike race of humanoids, whom recently helped Lady Dawn and Lord Dupree defeat Lord Blackthorn, the Juka, and his legions of henchmen. One of the meer eternals explained to Uther that he was ressurected by the failed decay spell, which turned the beautiful city of Yew into a stagnant swamp among many other things. It was at least a push in the right direction, Uther thought.

As he bid his friends farewell, he could not help but think about what his new lease on life would bring him. He journeyed for a few years learning the different cultures of many lands and cities, but he grew quite fond of one culture he learned, the way of the Samurai. It brought him peace and balance in his life, but still, he felt as if something were missing.

One day, as he was walking through the lands of Malas, he came across Lady Saidhe, the queen of Sanctus, which is a thriving city, south of the Paladin City of Luna. As he talked to her, he felt compelled that he now had a cause to devote himself to. He asked the Queen if he would be welcome into her kingdom as a Deputy, a man of law and order. She gave her blessing, and so it came to be.

While training one day, something caught his attention, boisterous laughter. Curious, he found his way into the city's tavern, Hanse's Hostel. There he found much comraderie and spirit he hadn't seen or heard in a very long time, but there was something else. He turned to his right as he entered the door, and there she was, in a golden dress, black apron, gypsy headress, and beautiful flowing red hair and piercing green eyes.

"Hey wench, she screamed, Ge' a'nother ale!!" He at first was taken aback of how hardy and full of life she was, but, there was something about her that had him from the moment he saw her. She reminded him of someone, but he wasn't quite sure.

"Hail m'lady he said as he bowed slightly, I am Uther Pendragon." "Wut?" she said as she seemed to be slightly agitated at the interruption. "I am Uther, he said again, and you are m'lady?" She was slightly taken aback, for she wasn't used to a man approaching her this way. "Hillary, Hillary Fay. Nice ta' be meetin' ya', I suppose." "May I take a seat?", stated Uther. "Sure, it be a free country." said Hillary. They began to talk, and he noticed that beneath the rough exterior, there was a woman whom he deperately wanted to get to know, and eventually one day, to love.

"M'lady, I would like to show you something.", said Uther. "O' Ya', and what would tha' be Uther?" "Just come with me, and you will see." "Ya' better no' be tryin' anything fishy or I'll hurt ya badly!", stated Hillary. "Just come m'lady.", pleaded Uther. "Okay, but no tricks, I'm warnin' ya!" He pulled out his runebook and motioned Hillary to stand by his side. He muttered the words, "Kal Ort Por". They arrived standing by a beautiful waterfall, Uther looked deeply into Hillary's eyes, and for the first time, she looked back, but quickly looked away........

The first time she saw him it was like a very large bee had stung her right in the side. Men always annoyed her to the point of wanting to rip her own hair out. Uther sat down next to her at the hostel, after asking rather politely and began conversing with her. As she drank 2 ales at once, double-fisting them, Hillary watched Uther's puppy dog stares and listened to his ever vigilant attempt at getting to know her better. Was this man serious? Could he even possibly grasp that she did not like him in the least and would perfer to smite him where he sat?

He spoke in soft, even tones when asking her questions. "What do you want out of life Hillary?" Even his calm tone aggitated her. "Bloody hell! I dun' know! Ta Smite an drink?" She responded.

"But surely you want more, do you not?" Uther said smiling. "Nah.. I be perferin' ta drink till I can drink no more, an smotin' any foe that may cross meh path." Hillary replied with a sinister look. She was hoping to scare him off for good. After conversing with him for a bit longer, she realized that he was harder to shake then a tick off a dog. "Wut ya be wantin' from meh exactly Uther?" It was her turn to question him. "Nothing but your company and to get to know you better." He stated. Hillary downed the rest of both her ales and tossed them onto the hostel floor, listening to the shattering of glass. This startled Uther a bit and he almost seemed to jump in his seat. Hillary grinned slyly to herself. Perhaps that barbarian act would scare him off.

She got up from her chair abruptly and nodded to Uther. "I gotta head out on patrol, bye Uther." Hillary said dryly. "Can I come with you? He asked. "Nah, I be well equiped ta handle this meself." She replied. With that being said, she marched out of the hostel without looking back, but she could feel his eyes apon her.

Hillary stepped up onto the saddle strap on her horse and threw her leg over, settling down apon her horse's back. She sat thinking about moments just passed. Was this Uther for real? She shook her head and tried to get him out of her mind. Patrol you stupid stupid woman and leave these thoughts here in this place. She thought to herself. Men were trouble and she wanted nothing to do with it. Use um and lose um, she said over and over in her mind. Hillary kicked her heels into the sides of her steed and her horse took off galloping towards the star bridge. Uther's face still fresh in her mind..

The spray of fresh water from the waterfall was refreshing, as it was a very warm day. Uther kept steady eye contact with Hillary, even though she had looked away. "You know my dear, it is alright to keep your guard up.", said Uther. "Wut ya be meanin'?", said Hillary. "Let me tell you of a memory that returned to me in a dream last night.", said Uther. Hilllary looked to him then looked down quickly again. "I had a vivid dream of my former love.", said Uther. "O', and wut was she like?" asked Hillary. "She was much like you, and we were inseperable, but......." Uther's calm and steady demeanor began to crack, and Hillary, for the first time, laid eyes on him intently. "Go on", said Hillary tenderly. Uther continued...."It was a tense battle, and we were in a stalemate, the fighting was fierce, and the bloodshed was even worse." "In the heat of the moment, I turned my back to ward off an attacker, as I turned I heard her scream", "NO!!" "And at that instant, she dove in front of me, an took a poisoned arrow to the heart." "Shortly thereafter, I swore to never love again, for it hurt too much"...."but, I believe I have found a reason..to...to...."

"Wait!" said Hillary, "'fore ya finish, I know wher' this is goin'." Uther looked at Hillary. "Do you now, and where would this be going?" "I may be bullheaded, but I aint blind.", said Hillary. "Ya have feelings for me." Uther looked deeply into her eyes and said: "Yes, and I want to get to know you, if you give a chance to a man who would do anything just see and hear your voice, see that flowing beautiful red hair, and those lovely green eyes." "Well, ya sure be pourin' it on thick don' ya'?", said Hillary. "It is not pouring it on if you truly mean it from the heart my love.", said Uther softly.

"Well, tis' been nice, but I have patrollin' to be tendin' to.", said Hillary. With that, she quickly mounted her steed and rode of into the distance. "Fare the well, my love and be safe.", said Uther trailing off softly........

Uther watched Hillary ride away, wondering if she at least knew that the feelings he had were more than she could ever know. He walked to the edge of the waterfall, and stared at the magnificient site. He had never saw anything so beautiful, except for the woman with the rough exterior whom just completely had his heart. Uther sat on a nearby ledge and began to meditate. Being a studious man, the lessons of the samurai were still and always remained fresh in his mind. Just as he began to drift into a deep state of concentration, it was broken by a shift in nature. Something was out of balance, and it reared its ugly head. Uther stood up, and in the horizon he saw very dark and threatening clouds. The wind began to pick up almost instantly. Uther's thoughts quickly went to Hillary, and wondered if she was aware of the danger that lie ahead. He decided that he needed to find her, and fast. He gathered his things and chanted for the recall to Sanctus....."Kal Ort Por"

As Hillary stepped through the other side of the portal into Zento, she was pushed forward into a whirling gust of wind. She was swept off her horse and thrown into a nearby bush. As Hillary clung on to the roots of the bush, she watched her horse tumble and roll in the twirling whirlwind.

Debris was passing by her head banging into the building behind her. She was afraid that a peice would slam into her. Hillary's mind went to Uther, would she ever see him again? He was her only friend and seemed to care about her more then anyone else in Sanctus. They all held animosity for her. She could see it in their eyes when she passed by, and the whispers.. they never stopped. She may have put on a barbarian act, but deep down, she was a warm soul crying and tugging to get to the surface. Uther was the only one who seemed to see it and she desperately wanted to survive this and see his handsome face again.

As she held firm to the roots of the bush, she began to climb it, pulling herself forward. She crawled through the brush and turned the corner of the building. The building seemed to keep the wind at bay and she was finally able to stand. Hillary pressed her back against the building and made her way along it. When she finally rounded the next corner the wind caught her and swept her away, plummeting into the darkness of the night. She miraculously reached out into the depths of the night and caught onto a lightpost, clinging on for dear-life. Again Uther's face appeared in her mind. His words of hope and optimism kept her calm as she clasped the lampost. It was her lifeline and she had to keep going. With one strong thrust she propeled herself forward into the wind and prayed to the virtues. Hillary tucked her head into her knees rolling and spinning through the air. She rolled right into the Zento Inn and tumbled a few feet. "What luck!" she thought.

Hillary dusted herself off and stood, wobbling a bit. She was still dizzy from the ordeal but happy to be alive and safe inside a building. Hillary looked around in dismay noticing a large group of people huddled in corners and laying apon bedrolls. This must be where everyone had found safe haven from the storm.

Hillary plopped down on a pillow and caught her breath, panting softly. When she finally regained her composure she glanced up and her eyes widened... Uther was standing above her with the biggest grin on his face. "Your stranded here as well m'lady?" he said softly. "As it would be seemin' Uther" she replied with a sly grin. The virtues had guided her to this very spot and for this she was extremely grateful. Hillary smiled, looking up at Uther and she was at peace despite the storm outside.

As Uther appeared from the recall, he was blindsided by the silence. Sanctus was not the bustling town he had grown to love, but a deserted ghost town, void of his new family and friends. His mind went back to Hillary. He longed to see her beautiful face again, and his heart sank at the thought of losing someone he cared about again. In the short time he had known her, he had grown to love her more than life itself, and he would be damned to lose her to anything, be it a storm or not. "HILLARY!!!", shouted Uther, "ARE YOU HERE MY LOVE?!?!?!"

His calls to her went unanswered, and he began to fear the worst. How could he let harm come to her? No, he thought, she is fine. One thing that gave Uther hope is that Hillary could take care of herself, but even so, he wanted to be the one to protect her. He searched from building to building, even the dojo, where she frequently trained, but still no Hillary.

On a hastily scribbled note posted on the door to Blackgard Castle, the inscription read:

WENT TO ZENTO TO HELP WITH THE MONSOON!!!
EVERYONE ON THE ISLAND IS BEING EVACUATED TO THE ZENTO INN!!!!!
EVERYONE PLEASE GET THERE IMMEDIATELY!!!

Uther breathed a sigh of relief.....Zento.....I must get there, he thought to himself. He gathered as much as he could, opened his book and chanted: "Kal Ort Por"....but to his surprise, his recall failed...he tried again, but to no avail. "Damnit!", he said. At that moment, he realized he was going to have to get to Luna and use the moongate before it began to fail too.

He whistled for his horse Shinzo, who came immediately. "My friend, stated Uther, we must ride and ride as hard as you can to Luna." With that, he mounted and they rode as fast as they could towards the Luna moongate. The journey, which normally took no more than a few minutes by horse back, seemed to take an hour.

The scene was chaos in Luna. Everyone hustled to get to Zento to see what could be done in the wake of the storm. Uther saw the moongate, and he began riding towards it. As he closed on it, it began to fade. "NO!", "we will make it my friend!" Shinzo dove through the moongate as it faded and closed.

They landed outside of Zento with a thud, and Uther was thrown from his horse. Uther was fine, but Shinzo broke his neck on the fall, and was lost, for now. Uther looked sadly to Shinzo's body, and said: "Rest well, my friend, I will come back and have you ressurected."

Uther struggled with every fiber in his body to make it to the Inn. He could see it in the distance, for it was the only lit building remaining in the city. Again his thoughts flashed to Hillary. "Please my love, allow me the chance to gaze upon thy beauty again.", he thought. Uther desperately wanted to tell her how he felt about her, even though she new he had feelings, but he wanted to have the chance to express them in the way a man should. He low crawled through the water and muck a few feet at a time, until he finally reached the door of the Inn. He sighed relief as he flung himself into the inn and landed with a loud crash. Heads turned and then quickly went back to what they were doing as soon as they saw him rise to his feet. Uther closed his eyes and uttered the healing words: "Obsu Vulni." A warm, white glow enveloped his whole body as his wounds began to heal themselves and he began to feel better.

All was well except one thing...Where was Hillary? He looked around to each side of the Inn, until his eyes saw the most beautiful sight he longed to see...It was Hillary, and she was carefully checking herself over, making sure everything was in place. Uther smiled to himself, gathered his composure and quietly made his way in her direction. She was so indesposed that she didnt notice him standing there at first. She finally sensed someone there, and slowly looked up, with widened eyes, at the sight of Uther, the man whom would finally pledge his love to her this night and turn her world upside down.........

The monsoon of Tokuno was now over, and everyone slowly began to rebuild Zento and the out-lying areas. New friends and allies said their goodbyes, and promises were made to keep in touch. Uther and Hillary grew ever closer that night, playing games and laughing at things to keep their mind off the death and destruction around them. Now that the crisis was over, it was time for Uther to step up and be noticed by the woman he so desperately wanted to love, and to have her feel the same.

Everyone began to depart the Inn, and soon it was only the two of them, standing face to face, unsure of what to say or do next. Hillary said "Uther, I be needin' ta go patrol." "I'll meet ya at th' Hostel." "Of course stated Uther, you do have your duties." "Don' be lookin' so sad." said Hillary. "I'll be ther ya can count on it." Uther smiled and bid her farewell.

The journey back to Sanctus was filled with questions for Uther. He wondered if she felt the same about him, and if so, where would these feelings take them? It had been long ago that his former love perished in battle, and he was afraid to love again, but for Hillary, he would walk through the endless hell of Doom, the dragon filled Destard, and even the flames and hell of Hythloth itself! He had never felt this strongly before, not even for his lost love.

Uther arrived at the hostel, and took the very seat he sat in his first night he saw her. Sanctus was slowly beginning to get back to normal, as the establishment began to fill with patrons, stories and laughter. He smiled to himself. "I am indeed at home.", he thought to himself. Just as he looked to the door to see if Hillary was coming, she suddenly appeared. She indeed grew more beautiful by the day. Her flowing red hair, beautiful full lips, and ample chest were just the icing on the cake for him.

"Hail mlady!" said Uther as he motioned to her to come and sit. "Jus' a moment Uther." said Hillary. "Wench, get meh two ales!" "Uther, ya be wantin one?" "Yes, please." said Uther. Hillary grabbed the ales and sat down at the table. She began drinking her ales, one after the other, one in each hand. "M'lady, said Uther, there is something I have been meaning to tell you." Uther looked into her eyes. She made contact, but quickly looked down into her mugs. "O' Ya', and what would the be Uther?" said Hillary. "It is about my journey to find you." stated Uther. "The only thing I could think of was getting to you, and making sure I would live to see you again. That is what drove me and kept me alive my dear, because there is something you should know." Hillary looked at Uther, then looked down at her now empty hands. "Oh bloody hell Uther....don' you....."she covered her ears to not hear what he was saying. "My dear, said Uther, please, you need to hear this." With that she slowly uncovered her ears and finally made steady eye contact with him. "I know I have been here a short while, and have known you in even less time." said Uther deliberately. "I have realized while traveling to find you and fighting for my life in that storm, that I cannot live without you. You are the air that I breathe, you are all that matters to me in my new life I have started, and I want you to take that journey with me. Hillary, I Love You, and have since I first laid eyes on you. I mean this with all my heart and soul, and if you will have me, I will be there for you always." Hillary could not believe what she heard....was he serious? "Uther, she said, love comes with obligations, and......" "Wait, said Uther, we can do this together, just give it a chance my love."

Hillary took a deep breath, and sat up in her chair. "Uther, are ya sur this is wha ya be wantin'?" "Yes, said Uther, never been more sure in my life." "Well, said Hillary, I hav a confession ta make." "Oh?" said Uther. "On meh' way to Zento, it was you tha' kept meh' goin' to make it ther' too. I foun' mehself wantin' to see ur' hansom' face an' tha' bald head of urs'." Hillary and Uther looked at each other, and laughed loudly. "So my dear, you do feel that way?" "Ya ya ya, I suppose.", said Hillary. Uther smiled and reached out to touch her hand, expecting to get it smacked, but instead, she gently grabbed and held his firmly. At that moment, he knew how she felt without saying anymore.

As the night wore on many patrons came and went, but the Uther and Hillary were as one. Hillary stood up and said: "Uther, I hav' ta check on tha' scum in tha' jail, and then get meh some shut eye, wanna come?" "Yes, of course I do.", stated Uther. He helped her out of her chair, as it was obvious that she had a little too much ale to drink. He walked her to the bottom of the stairs, and as they neared their destination, she tripped and fell. Uther helped her up and said: "Are you alright my dear?" Hillary chuckled a little. " Ya, meh jus' bein' a lil' clumsy." At that moment, Uther realized that he was holding her close to him. He looked into her eyes, she gazed back. He leaned forward and kissed her soft lips for the very first time. It was a moment frozen forever in his mind, and he didn't want it to end. They slowly seperated, and Hillary walked gingerly up the stairs. "Good eve, Uther.", said Hillary. "Good eve my princess, sleep well....."

The monsoon still fresh in Hillarys mind made her body ache. Spending days without exercise and proper nutrition had taken quite a toll on her body. The ale in zento was not as quite as strong as the ale in Sanctus leaving her to suffer withdrawl as well. As Hillary lounged in a cushey chair within the walls of the Sanctus jail, her thoughts went back to that fateful night when the monsoon nearly killed Khalarinth.

She had been sitting comfortably on a pillow with an ale in each hand awaiting the storm to blow over, when she heard a males voice call out from the storm. "HELP!" he cried. She jumped up from her pillow and ran to the corner of the tavern archway. Hillary glanced around the corner of the archway into the dark night only to spot a man laying on the ground with a large beam crushing his lower half. She winched regarding his situation. Her instincts took over and she called for a rope. "I need a rope ta tie around meself, there be a man out there!" Hillary screamed to the group. Rryn grabbed a rope from a pile of supplies and threw one side to Hillary. She tied it around her waist in a double knot and gave one long look back at the group. Rryn was calling for everyone to come together to hold the other end of the rope in case Hillary blew away with the monsoon. "Now ya'll needta be pullin when I scream fer it, we be only havin a few seconds ta get this done!" She called to the group as she headed out into the howling winds. It took her what seemed like forever to reach the man. Each blast of the wind felt like she was being punched. She could hardly breath. She forced herself against the whirlwind, step by tiny step, untill she reached his outstretched hands. Hillary grasped onto them and tried to pull but the beam crushing his lower half was to heavy. She fought against the wind and kneeled down, grabbing onto his torso. "PULL!" She screamed to the group inside, holding the end of the rope.

She felt herself being yanked backwards into the tavern within moments, Khalarinth in tow. They both fell in a heap on the floor, Hillary gasping for air. Rryn untied the ropes bindingHillary's waist and had a healer assist Khalarinth to a bedroll. There was nothing more Hillary could do, so she sat and began to drink once again..

Thinking back on that moment, warm in her chair in the Wardens office, she frowned heavily. Hillary was worried for Khalarinth. He would probably never walk again. She shook her head attempting to bereave herself for a moment of her own psyche. Time for more ale, Hillary thought to herself with a sly grin. She stood from her chair and hustled over to Hanses only to see Uther sitting across the room.

"Uther!" She shouted with a big smile. He grinned back and motioned to an empty chair near him. His smile changed to a look of anxiousness as she sat down. He must have something important to tell her, and for this she would need LOTS of ale... She had a feeling she knew what it was. "M'lady" ,said Uther. "There is something I have been meaning to tell you." Uther looked into her eyes. She made contact, but quickly looked down into her ales. "O' Ya', and what would that be Uther?" said Hillary. "I have realized while traveling to find you and fighting for my life in that storm, that I cannot live without you. You are the air that I breathe, you are all that matters to me in my new life I have started, and I want you to take that journey with me. Hillary, I Love You, and have since I first laid eyes on you. I mean this with all my heart and soul, and if you will have me, I will be there for you always." Uther said with love in his eyes.

With one pump of her fist, Hillary punched the table, sending bottles crashing to the tile. "Bloody hell Uther.." She replied. "Why ya gotta make this be so complicated. Ya be knowin' love means obligation." But Uther would not relent and kept steady eye contact with Hillary. She knew he was serious and her heart warmed at the thought of love, even if it came with heartache. "Uther, are ya sur this is what ya be wantin'?" Hillary said calmly. "Yes", said Uther, "Never been more sure in my life." Hillary thought to herself, I suppose I could try again. But if he leaves me like the other.. theres gonna be hell to pay.. Hillary forced a smile and downed the rest of her ales. Here we go again, she thought.
