Sending the girls off to their lessons, Rryn sat down with a sigh at her desk. The meetings with several had taken many hours and gone late into the night before. The many things they shared with her made her heart heavy for her people and the perceptions many had of Zento. She had spent the better part of the day speaking with her elder council and meditating upon the right course of action to begin the changes that the people of Zento deserved and to assure others they were always welcome in the lands. Taking up her quill she began the letter to send out to the Heads of all Clans..
Greetings Friends,
To begin with I will start this out with an apology for any wrong doings that have come from within the clans of Zento and from myself personally. I cannot apologize for the actions of the others involved, but for my own actions and any taken by the members of my clan that have been loyal to me and have followed me, I will whole heartedly apologize.
Having been shown many examples of the reasons for the distrust many hold against the citizens here, I have seen the wrong doings and the lack of honor that was brought down upon not only the Regency and the Royal Court of Light, but to their allies and friends. I have been told and shown of the betrayals and the mis-truths and the back alley negotiations that have affected many. I have contemplated over the last few days, things I had been told and believed to be truths from one that I thought I could trust and learned I could not.
I assure you that I did not leave my position , nor did I leave the lands as many were told at the Regency meeting and again at the Royal Court of Light meeting. Due to the abdication of the Emperor, there will be changes made within the lands. Gone will be the closed door, dishonorable negotiations of the past. As the Empress, I know my station is to bring stability and honor to these lands. My goal is set to turn around the perception many hold of this culture and land as being of turmoil and savagery to one of peace and civility. Of deception and treachery to one of respect and honesty. The people of these lands and the clans that live honorably here deserve to live peacefully in the knowledge that they be not judged by the acts of one, but that they are seen as who they really are. People of honor and dignity. These lands are owned by the people that make their daily lives here and our visitors that come and honor us with their commerce and friendship. To that note, the borders are open to any that wish to visit. My clan and many others in the lands wish to to let all know that they will do their best to allow all the ability to mingle , trade and commerce within Zento without hassles from the old rule. We welcome the people of the many clans of the Regency and the Royal Court of Light to visit and enjoy these beautiful lands free of harassment. Come interact and see the changes and the peace our lands should be known for. Though we have many warriors, they are there to protect any that are in the lands from those that would break such peace. They are there to back our allies and friends from those that would harm their people as well.
You need only ask for our assistance and we will be there.

She placed sand over the ink to allow it to dry and stood to look out her window. Seeing the young messenger in the garden , she called him to her. As he entered her office, she picked up the now dried letter.
"Take this quickly to the scribe to be copied and then send the copies to the crane coop. I wish these sent out immediately to the heads of all the clans of the lands."
The boy nodded and carefully took the letter from her and ran out the door to do as she bade.
Perhaps now she could begin to undo the knots that had lead to such hostilities in the past and begin a new chapter in the lives for those that called Zento and the Tokuno Islands home. |

Vaen read the letter, tapping his chin slightly as he nods.
"And so another piece is moved." He looked at the chessboard infront of him, and moved the right brown knight to a king's opening. "What will be the reaction? A move to mirror it," he placed his fingers upon the right black knight, "or something to counter..." he then moved the black pawn infront of the black queen forward, making way for the bishop to claim his territory. He chuckled to himself, leaning back in his chair and glancing over the letter again. "I will watch this with much interest." _________________

Late evening fell on the Ra palace and the sandstone walls seemed to glow from the rising moon.
Ramses, Pharaoh of the Hand of Ra, walked the hallways in silence and deep in thought as was his custom for that hour. the practice seemed to help him consider the goings on of Sosaria and HRA's place in it.
His attention was drawn to the noise of the main doors opening and the appearance of Sun-Huo-zi walking up to his lord with a catlike grace.
"A development my Lord." he stated as he handed over a parchment to Ramses and pushed his cloak's hood from his head
Ramses unfolded what he recognized as ricepaper and started to read.
"A development indeed, Sun."
He knew the history of the trials of Lady Rryn, and she had been through much. His son, Ramses II, was actually in charge of her and her daughter's security and safety during her early quest for asylum in Sanctus. Her recent overtures of concern for the Queen's health and gift of healing teas had struck a cord with Ramses's natural virtue of compassion.
"They are not coming from Isk" he thought and allowed himself a slight smile.
The diplomat in him knew that she would have to distance her self from some and she would have to put her words into action for the Regent and the RCL to see that she meant what she said. For it was his hope that those lands would finally know a peaceful cohesiveness.
"Well," he said looking at Sun. "We will watch this with optimism....cautious optimism but optimism nonetheless."
Sun nodded "The Islands have only known chaos for a time"
"Aye." Ramses replied. " For far too long. I hope this is a herald for honest change Sun."
"As do I my Lord, this is no game"
"No....it is not, what other news have you brought for me?"
Sun then proceeded to tell his Pharaoh of the other concerns and affairs of state as they walked the moonlit halls of the Ra palace.

*A finely penned response arrives for Lady Rryn*
Greetings,
So, the crowns have shifted in Tokuno. It seems you seek to make amends. If this is true, I will have you know of the Former Emperor's actions. He did betray Umbra, and broke treaty with us, with intent to attack our allies.
Trust is an easy thing to give, an easier to thing to lose, but a very difficult thing to earn back. As such, the lands of Umbra do not welcome Tai Kwan Leap. If he is ever reported here, attempt will be made to detain and imprison him, indefinately, for his treacherous intent against the peoples of Umbra. We do not take lightly to traitors and though it is difficult to break the laws of Umbra, those that seek to do so will not receive the "fair trial" that most other governing bodies bestow so willingly, in other realms.
Ahh, but I digress. Enough of this about law-breaking. Best of luck in restoring your lands to their former state. Likewise, our borders are open to all, so feel free to visit.
Signed,
Ceinwyn ab'Arawn,
Matriarch of Umbra

Annawen moved into her office and sat down gracefully at her desk, her dark eyes falling onto the letter,"interesting...,"she said as she sat down and picked it up and broke its seal.

Smiling softly she picked up her quill then looked to the door as her twin daughters moved into the doorway,"what is it girls?,"she asked as Kohana moved inside pulling her younger sister with her.
"Momma...we miss poppa...,"she said softly as Annawen sighed softly and nodded,"i know my angels...i miss poppa too...,"she said as she gave them a hug then kissed their foreheads lightly,"now go find your brother and wash up for dinner...momma has some business to attend to then I will join you..,"she said as they nodded and did as they were told.
"Oh Ashi...where are you...,"she said as she looked out the window towards the ocean then took a deep breathe and picked up the quill again.
Lady Rryn,

Sealing the letter with the crest of the Dragon she stood up and moved out into the hall to hand the letter to the messenger she had summoned earlier,"see that this gets to Lady Rryn...,"she said as she placed it into his hand along with a bag of gold. _________________ "They say women talk too much. Takeda riding into Zento to pick up supplies picks up a piece of paper on the ground. He reads the letter written by Rryn. Shakes his head and mumbles "what do I care as long as these issues do not effect Isamu". Throws paper into trash barrel proceeds to market to buy his supplies. Rides out of town |
