Times had settled somewhat since her sister Molly had returned to health. She no longer had to perform her sister's duties and try to free her from her affliction. With out the help of Mo she would never have made it through. He was her stalwart companion and they had become very close spending so much time together, so close they had pledged their love for one and other. Mo had been sent on an errand by the Duke having to do with some legal matter and was away. She pined as she began to ponder her life sitting in her room looking into the tea cup she had poured for herself.

She had been a widow for years, the widow of Artero Kingston, a prominent man in his day. She took him away from his dark past and showed him love and light. He responded with passion and love for her as they grew together and fell in love. They were inseparable in the first few years of their marriage but he seemed to grow distant and would stay away for months at a time after the baby was born. She had been so in love with him. After an absence of several months she received word that he had perished in a horrible accident.

She was devastated but after several months she began to gather her thoughts and went on with her life, moving back in with her sister who kindly gave her a room she shared with their other sister Alexus and the then 5 year old Ariella. Their daughter grew and was quiet beautiful. She had his dark skin and her fair hair. She was Kathleen's pride and joy.

Ariella moved away not too many months ago to Trinsic to go to school in the art of tailoring. Kathleen had taught her the basics but was not near as talented in the skill as was Ari. This left Kathleen alone and her thoughts turned inward once again. She felt very alone.

Then she met Mo, one of the men in the guild. She thought herself incapable of love again but he showed her there was a hope and a future. They had spent many quiet moments together as he had a room across the hall from her and her sister. He was a strong man with bold red hair and very handsome. They would pass in the hall and something clicked between them. Their love seemed to grow from the first moment they saw each other. She felt happiness growing and loves blooming in her once again.

Then one evening Molly sent her a message that she looked at in disbelief. Someone was there to see her...her husband. She came back to the guild house and found him wandering around the houses on the island. He said "Hi, how are you?" as if he had never left, his humor had not changed a bit nor had his looks. She looked at him and said, "Did you bring back the bread you went out for fifteen years ago?" He laughed a little and waved his hand as if it didn't matter. She shook her head and said, "I am happy" watching him for his reaction. She was still mounted on her horse but she dismounted and looked him in the eye. She asked him where he had been and that she had thought him dead these many years. She spoke of their daughter growing up without a father. She told him she had waited for him always and until she had heard the devastating news of his demise. She told him she had met someone and she had a new life now. He seemed pleased for her but his eyes said differently. He said it was good to have seen her and didn't expect to be here long. She nodded and suggested he look up their daughter and told him where she was. He seemed sad but nodded. He said he had really loved her. He always had trouble with emotions and he just disappeared, as was his habit when he could not handle a situation. She said to the shadows, "So did I and would have forever, if you had stayed."

She came back to herself still looking into the now cold cup of tea one teardrop breaking the smooth surface. It was so sad that he didn't understand what he had done to them or if he did that he could not just waltz back in and resume what was lost. Though he said he did not want to cause any trouble she knew in the back of his heart that he wanted things to be as they were before he had become distant. She finally had some closure now to that part of her life and she mourned the loss.

She took in a deep breath as she looked up at the flowers that Mo had left for her before he had gone. She felt her heart pang thinking of him. She smiled wiping away the tears she had mourned and a beam of warm light broke through the gloomy clouds that had covered the sky all morning. It struck the flowers as if to say, "Morn not for the past." She nodded to herself smiling. She pictured Mo in her mind's eye and whispered to the image, "I love you Mo…Hurry home Love."

Having spent many days on the road conducting the Duke's business, traveling to different towns and cities in the realm his work was finally complete. Now he could finally return to the hall and Kathleen.

He had thought much about her during his travels. Her warm smile, her soft touch, it helped keep the cold out of his bones. He loved Kathleen, looked forward to being with her again. It had been a long time since he felt like this for anyone. Looking toward the horizon, "I’m coming home my love" he said.
