*The following arrives at the house of those who would usually read such things*

I, Isk, a Magincian, husband to Angelique, a lord and father of many, having written scores of books on a multitude of subjects take up the quill again to set down concerns on the state of the Regency. Knowing well that the mission of the Regency is a just one and believing in the rights of the Regent to rule his lands I feel that it is my duty as a human to spell out the dangers the Regency faces on its current course.

The single greatest threat to the survival of the Regency is the Royal Court of Light, a splinter sect birthed by the daemon hag Molly who out of revenge for being ostracized from the Regency many years ago started up a copy of the organization in Malas. The threat is not of a military nature for in fact both sides have the same army. It is not of a political nature for both sides have the same allies. The threat is simply that the two sides; Regency and Royal Court of Light are almost the same. The Regency and RCL are almost indistinguishable from each other in every way.

The problem began when the Royal Court of Light recruited membership outside its traditional sphere of influence by accepting trammel based guilds as well as Zento ones. Following a similar expansionist trend the Regency voted in non-trammel powers into the Loyalist ranks thereby breaking the forever-old tradition that Loyalists come from the lands Lord British would rule were he alive today. As a result of this the historic spheres of influence are forever blurred. The two councils are slowly becoming one and it is unclear where the jurisdiction of one starts and the other’s ends.

Without naming names the majority of Loyalist guilds have co-membership in Molly’s RCL. Before the Regency Constitution was re-written there was a clause which forbade Loyalists to be members of any other organization or alliance aside from the Regency in order to have a unified front but this is not true in these times. It is sad that the current Regency does not adapt that view again for it would surely save it from a dreadful fate. Democracy has gone to the heads of everyone and now the trend is to belong to as much as possible, incidentally the more places Loyalists belong the less influence and power the Regent possesses.

Now that so many Loyalists are members of the RCL the power of the Regent has shrunk. The Regent has no leverage with these duo membership guilds as should one gig not work out there is always the other council to fall back on. In addition to this it is far more likely for Molly to get involved in Regency matters now that she has scores of her own loyalists seated at the table in Serpent’s Hold. The elven conspiracy would desire nothing more than having Molly rule the collected lightbringers and this should never be allowed to happen.

How would one save the Regency at this point? Does the Regency even deserve to be saved? Some would argue that Molly’s plan to integrate the Regency into the RCL would benefit the realm as one overarching court is obviously better than two doing the same job, however I am more a traditionalist. In my enlightened and correct opinion it is in the best interest of the Regency to distance itself from the RCL as much as possible, put a ban on any further swearing in of Molly’s Royal Court of Light members and keep an eye on the redheaded she-creature so that the RCL does not overreach its talons into the realm of trammel.
