In the investigation of Relvinian, there were many subject left somewhat 'un-touched'. One of these being a subject I feel would have made a large difference in how we today, veiw the summoning of Deamons. This subject being that of the mages Mentality.
His..sanity you could say. Was it the deamons or the summoners fault? Perhaps both, though only would can be held accountable, as one truly held more over another in the end.
Let us look at the facts of that day in Britan.
Let us first look at the people views, those witnesses who saw the horror of the abyss cause such havok within the castle halls. What did they have to say?
Well, if one is to look over the Town Cryer's post for that event, one will see that most of the commoners did not blaim the deamons, but instead, pointed fngers at the mage himself. So why do we now point our fingers at the Deamons? Perhpas it is because we have no one else to point it at.
We see the problem, but there is no one to blaime for it being caused. So we assume it is the Deamon. I assure you that this is not truth. We, a city of truth, an isle of honesty, should be open minded towards this, and realize that a spell is never at fault, only the caster.
Relvinian took that chance, and he caused a great deal of damage in doing so. But I believe it was not the deamons who caused this, but instead, his lack control over himself. It is said that one must first find truth in oneself before attempting to find the truth magic holds. Perhaps this man never found that truth. Perhpas he lost sight of what magic was. Even in his earlier days many stated that though he was a great student, and held magic with the most respect, he was a bit queer at time. He was secretive, and delt mainly with summoning spells.
My point being this: One should not judge another based on his outcome, but instead his intentions. One should also seek to find the truth in all matters only after one has found truth within themselves.
We judge a man on his outcome, instead of his intentions. His intentions were veiwded as very noble.
However, some say he was..misled by his own hope for a better world. He wanted so badly for his work to be best of all, to be veiwed above all others. He saught to be something he could not...a god.
When the people rejected his studies in such large numbers he most likely became angered, and knew that his power would never be shown to them if they only saught to outcast him for his ideals. Thus, he turned to his magic once more, and then, upon summoning the Deamons within the castle walls, his weak spirit let loose and he fell to the temptations the Daemon offered. With this he ordered them to kill everyone within the city. I say that this man who summoned these beast was a mad man. Yes he had talent, but what is talent without eyes to see with? He lost sight of what magic was, and thus he drove himself into a chaotic cycle of madness.
We however, have become stronger in our knowledge. We know never to allow such things to bother us. Our studies should be kept at a balance, and so should our practice of the arts. Never shall I argue the fact that a student should not use these spells, as they are hardly stable enough in their power to control such. achieve the option to use them. Deamons, are under our control if we summon them, and never shall it be otherwise. You may fight it all you wish, and you may disagree all you wish. Truth stays, lies change, and we live in a world that is only truth to those who believe. I supopse then that in the end I will say this: Deamons are of an evil nature, and one should never seek to summon these without great cause. Evil is only evil if it is of its own mind. I seek not to lie to you and say Deamons are good to summon. But they should be summoned if the situation calls for such. Students seek out power, and should be shown at an early level that one should respect the order of things.
Never to jump ahead, and to never walk into a darkness without a torch to guide them.
We should take responsibility for our actions, and always seek to guide others down a path of truth. Deamons are of trickery and deciet, but we are of truth, and truth is always the greater. Even a deamon shall tell you that.
