Title: House of the Gauntlet
Author:
In the days when the land was still young, before our Lord British had set foot in the realm, there was a band of warriors that always stood beside one another. They were known as the Order of the Silver Gauntlet. The Order was lead by a great warrior, known as Sir Sandor Aelrick. During one of their patrols through the lands, they happened upon a valley that seemed to keep itself hidden from view. They found within this valley an army of great evil, composed of gargoyles and demons, that all stood before a giant creature, the likes of which had never been heard of. Upon further examination of the valley, it was discovered that there was only one exit large enough for the demon army to pass through.
In the interests of protecting surrounding villages from being slaughtered by this army, the Order of the Silver Gauntlet took advantage of the approaching night. They quickly dispatched a runner to warn the territory's Liege Lord, and as thedemon army slept, they prepared a blockade that would help them defend the exit. The demons rose the next morning to a loud blast from a horn as the Order trumpeted out a final warning to the surrounding villages.
The demon army charged into the fortifications the warriors had constructed, and, though greatly outnumbered, the warriors stood their ground. The Order of the Silver Gauntlet was destroyed that day, but not without great losses to the demons and gargoyles as well. The remnants of the demon army marched on one of the villages, but met the Liege Lord's fully mustered and battle-ready militia when they arrived, and were eventually turned back.
The villagers examined the aftermath of the battle between the demons and the Order earlier on that day, and discovered Sir Sandor's legendary axe to be missing. Posthumously, the Liege Lord bestowed his greatest honor on the Knights by elevating Sir Sandor as Lord of his own Noble House, the House of the Gauntlet.
