Title: House of the Stag

Author:

In the days long ago, before the land had been united under one king, and the settlements of the world were disjointed and isolated, a group of champions came together under the leadership of Lord Pearce Stanton and established a Noble House.

They were men of the forest, and they knew their task to be dangerous. They chose the Stag for their Heraldry, as it represented to them a noble creature, fleet of foot, stealthy and evasive, but dangerous when angered. They dedicated their lives to traveling the land and visiting the far off towns and villages in the hopes of uniting the world's people. They were tireless in their efforts to foster the ideals of nationalism and community and they quickly became targets of the wizard Mondain as he grew to power.

The brave men of the House of the Stag were tricked by Mondain to meet in a small village where they believed the villagers were interested in supporting their cause. When they arrived, they were immediately surrounded by a vast army of creatures in the employ of Mondain.

They were ordered to lay down their weapons and be taken away to slave in the mines of Mondain. To a man they refused, and they fought with a savagery against overwhelming odds to protect and honor their beliefs. Though none of the house of the Stag survived, the villagers who had spied upon the proceedings passed the legend on to other towns and villages and the house of the Stag continued to serve as builders of unity long after their deaths.
