Title: Method of Resurrecting via Channeling

Author: Baltar of Moonglow

Several theories exist concerning possible wellsprings of magical energy and many a mage hath spent their lifetime in research to prove a particular theory correct or flawed. However, one common theme among these theories is that there art places on Sosaria where great magical power exists naturally.

Why these places exist is a matter of speculation. Theories I hath encountered include: they art the residue of the very magic that created this world; or the gathering place of mages of great power such that their magical energies eventually permeated the place; or possibly an event of such a cataclysmic release of arcane energies that the very rock was imbued. I would suggest that it could be any of these things.

That such places exist is the significant point.

What is notable about these places is that the magical energy can be tapped if a mage knows the proper procedure. It is by no means an easy task, and many a mage hath perished in the attempt when sufficient groundwork was not completed. From my experiments and research I would make the following recommendation. Due to the immensity of power that can be tapped this task must have a group of mages; a single mage however skilled is too frail a vessel to contain such forces. A group of mages working in conjunction channeling or focusing the energy to whatever task is at hand is required.

This should be done very cautiously once again And with proper form. As with most magic it should be balanced. If magic is allowed to rage unchecked then it becomes destructive and will likely cause the death of the unsuspecting mages channeling the raw magical energy.

My research to this point hath mainly been focused upon using this energy to enhance the effects of the highest circle of spells known to mages those of the eighth circle. It is rumored that others circles might exist and perhaps in another lifetime I will take on the challenge of researching this.

As I have no penchant for spells of a possible violent outcome, I chose instead, to research the idea of restoring life to those spirits that seem most lost, beyond the reach of spells currently possible. Such as the angry ones that oft attack me upon my wanderings around our fair isle.

After great research I hath decided that I hath sufficient understanding of the forces involved to try this experiment soon.

My research has revealed the following structure for my ritual:

Eight mages are necessary four to channel creative energies and four to channel destructive energies. This provides the balance necessary. The obvious significance of four need not be explained. These mages must be of great skill. They must be of sufficient magical ability to be able to naturally cast the eighth circle of magic.

A place of great magical power this can be someplace where the spirit itself generates magical power or a place such as I described above.

An item of pure form this must be an object that can withstand extremely powerful raw magical energies.

I hath found that certain gems of rare quality can channel small amounts of energy well if I can find a gem of extraordinary properties then I believe it would work well for the experiments I have planned. However, please note that this really must be a rare item indeed. Not just any stone or item will work as most have some flaw that will interfere with the channeling and this interference can be very deadly to the channeler.

The mages must form a circle around the item in the place of power and all must focus their minds and thoughts on the gem and feel the energy pour through it. Then as they all come into harmony the spirit must enter the circle of power, as must the corporeal form. As the spirit is restored the body is destroyed and recreated with the spirit attached by the forces of the magical energy.

It is my wish to begin as soon as I receive thy approval and funding. Obtaining the pure item will no doubt require a sizeable investment, but one, I assure thee, thou wilt be more than amply rewarded for with the success of this endeavor.
