In addition to this the Humanis embassy stated that the war will happen with the allowance of the Regency or without it.

Rufus, the eight Regent put the matter to a vote. Four voting members present at the table agreed to allow Humanis to act in Minoc, the subject of Human slavery under the Drow having swayed many to agree with Humanis that action must be taken. However the Regent abstained from adding his forces to the liberation movement. Thus it was that the Humanis Embassy left Serpent’s Hold and the meeting behind and began to make plans for war.

Meanwhile the Drow remained oblivious as to the happenings within Magincia and the Regency and were unaware that a war was being planned against them.

Four days later on the 15th of February the elf Isilmea wandered into Magincia and came across Drake who summoned to him Artius. In the Magincia Magicka the three spoke and it became apparent that ELF was willing to ally with Humanis and call upon Sanctus for aide in the liberation of Minoc, the whole ordeal being spied upon by a ghost not loyal to either side. The meeting was interrupted by Son Gohan of Humanis who wondered aloud why the elf was not killed. Being dismissed by Artius the three agreed to formulate a partnership with the liberation of Minoc as the ultimate goal.

Word soon spread on the wind to Mark Randerstill and Isk who both despised Isilmea and the elves openly. Not even minutes after the fact there was a great division as the minority thought using the elves and Sanctus would be to the advantage of Minoc and the majority felt that a shared victory on the side of the elves would eventually discredit the Humanis belief. With the argument becoming heated the now fractured Humanis party decided to take a break from each other. Hours later word rang out that the battle to liberate Minoc would not come to past as quickly as expected.

A day passed and it was agreed that Sanctus should not be called upon for aide even though intelligence suggested that the Drow could possibly have the Dark Order as an ally which was lead by Tarothin Armun. So it was that the Humanis were in deep contemplation as to who would make a possible ally for them in the war. It was at this time that an alliance was reached between Humanis and House Telver though it was not desirable to have the recently established Sanguine Oligarchy of trammel Cove come to aid Humanis in an aggressive war because it was thought that their forces were necessary in Cove so that it would remain secure.

Having thought hard on a way to nullify any possible form of opposition the Humanis on the 24th of February sent an embassy to the Dark Adder in Felucca Cove. Within the stronghold of the Dark Order Mark Randerstill, Drake, Cecil and Isk sat down with Tarothin who was marked by the gods as a murderer at the time and began to discuss a possible noninterference agreement. It was then that Isk said the following speech to Tarothin Armun:

“It is well known that Humanis desires to cleanse Minoc of the Drow and liberate the city from their clutches. In this respect we are careful not to agitate the great Tarothin who has among his men some of the greatest and most numerous legions. We would never wish to enter war with you or cause you to hate us for what ever reason. Because of this we would ask that you break any alliance you may have with the drow and refrain from participating in the battles that are to come within Minoc.”

Having added forty Magincian diamonds to the proposition the Humanis delegation convinced the Dark Order to remain out of Minoc as long as the campaign to liberate Minoc was in effect.

And so it was that the forces of Humanis gathered together five battle ships known as triremes for the three sets of rowers which propelled the vessels over water and landed upon the beach of Vesper on the day of March 10th which was a Wednesday. From there the army rode on horseback into the territory of the Drow coming upon the great statues in the town center of Minoc.

The drow who recognized the attack was coming though advanced scouts entrenched themselves in a strategic position at the foot of the statues shouting to the Humanis army that Minoc was their land.

It was then that Drake Wyntermore shook his hands most angrily and exclaimed to the drow:

“You who hide in trenches and caves have no foothold on the surface world of men. Because you live in the ground you will be made to eat dirt”

With those words having been said the forces of Humanis charged against the drow with axes spinning and swords upraised until all of the enemy was vanquished. Stepping upon the skull of the drow general victory was proclaimed by Son Gohan.

As the taste of battle was still fresh on the lips of the Humanis the soldiers gathered around forming a circle no smaller than the one made before the ships sailed out as none of them had died during the battle and gave thanks to the Mother goddess for such a glorious victory.

Victory having been attained a trophy was erected in Minoc using the bodies of the enemies and once the surviving drow returned to the site of the battle not showing aggression the Humanis were eager to talk terms of the drow surrender. Thinking that the drow would be interested in surrender as they had been flawlessly defeated the Magincians were surprised when the drow lashed out stating that they would never surrender or give up Minoc. Then one of the injured drow having fallen her death shroud issued a threat towards Isk which at the time had his wife Angelique beside him claiming that the drow would harm their family and children. Having lifted his axe to smite them the drow scattered into the shadows and were unseen for the remainder of the night. Thus ended the first battle against the drow in Minoc.

Meanwhile in distant places the Dark Awakening which had emerged the month previous consolidated its hold on Yew though the placement of agents throughout its senate. Thinking that Yew should be the haven for darkness the members of the DA! Began to enter alliances with the Dark Order under Tarothin as well as the orcs and drow unknown to the Humanis which remained unaware of the Dark Awakening’s dealings.

Having entered war with the Elves the Dark Awakening soon sent an envoy to Magincia where Mark Randerstill issued a pact to aid the Dark Awakening in fighting the elves should there be a war against them stating that because the guild of ELF was a hated group the Hand of Humanis would be more than willing to aide in their destruction.
