Famous People of Sosaria by Rose

This weeks interview is with Vice Chancellor Lore Denin, also known as the Lord and Founder of Whispering Winds. Rose: "Tell me about your name? What exactly does it mean?"

Lore Denin: Its translation has been debated. It is derived from the magical language of Britannia "In Lore Des Sanct". Some call me the light in the darkness, others translate it to mean a curse upon this land.

Rose: "Is it true that you took Whispering Winds independent of the High Council at one point?"

Lore Denin: Yes, although it was not the High Council which we disagreed but Lord British Himself.

Whispering Winds was founded on Lord British's philosophy of Order. To carry on the traditions and values of the Order Guard in pursuit of the Quest of Unity which would result in the merger of the shardal multiverse back with the prime material world which we are a reflection of. A quest given to Lord British by the being known as the Timelord and one which the Order was sworn to fulfil. When Lord British desolved the Order and chose to abandom the Quest, we had to choose to abandon our vow to the king or to abandon our vow for the quest. In the end our loyalty is not only to this Britannia but to all Britannia's within and outside the multiverse.

Rose: "If you are so hell bent on Order, how do you justify being good friends with the Councilor of Chaos?"

Lore Denin: Many asked Lord British the same of Blackthorn. Opposite viewpoints provide perspective, debate and reflection. The Quest of Order could result in the loss of innumerable lives. If one will walk such a path, they should seriously consider all views and hope that another way to end the Gem of Immortality's curse on this land can be found and those lives saved.

Rose: "So what was the end result of your little rebellion?"

Lore Denin: The High Council and Whispering Winds created a treaty that would allow the Quest of Unity without legal repurcusion and allow the establishment of Chaos, Order and Balance, resolve the issue in the manner set down by Lord British and and Blackthorn.

Rose: "And how do you feel about the High Council's new constitution in which no mention is made whatsoever of the Treaty or the Philosophy Guards?"

Lore Denin: That is interesting, although the treaty itself should hold. Otherwise, we could be right back where we started before the Treaty was signed.

Rose: "So how did you get your start in this world?"

Lore Denin: It has been nearly 90 years since I first awoke in this world. The world I came from was very similiar. I believe it to be the Prime World, but it could very well be a shardal world like this one. There is no way to prove what I will tell you, but I will simply tell you what I remember as accurately as I remember. The world of Britannia I lived in was hudnreds, perhaps thousands of years from the time we live. Lord British was the legendary founder of the Kingdom but had long since departed. The King's were chosen by the Great Council similiar in make-up to the Ruling Council Lord British left in place here, upon his departure.

Candidates were not selected due to heritage but those who exemplified the virtues. I was the last King of this realm... and saw it fall, ripped apart by a great Cataclysm as the very fabric of the world was unraveling. A being of light appeared and offered me a chance to save my home world. The prime world has succumbed to the curse of the Gem of Immortality. The timelord told me, "Lord British has failed to defeat the curse from within, I shall send you into the multiverse to aid him, for you have seen what will become of the Prime World should he fail in his quest. Do not fail, for the fate of all Britannians rest in the Quest of Unity." There was a flash of light and then nothing. The last words I heard were, "In Lore Des Sanct." I awoke here in Britannia in the City of Trinsic badly wounded. The healers described my wounds as someone thrown through a window. I was found by a fishing boat in the sea just off the shores of Trinsic. My memory of my past life was completely gone and only through meditation at the shrines could I catch small glimpses. It was not until Lord British abandoned the Quest of Unity that my full memories returned.

Rose: "I understand that Whispering Winds has had a colorful history with the Temple of Mondain. What is your opinnion of the recent development of the Magincian Crises?"

Lore Denin: Magincia is a city that belongs to the people of Britannia. No group or organization can take that away, and Britannia as a whole will stand up to defend its lands against any groups or organizations that try to destroy the sanctity of the Kingdom.

Rose: "That is an interesting statement. How do you relate that with the more recent taking of Trinsic by the Atalan when the fallen god Tenebrous led them, or your own pulling of Whispering Winds from Britannia?"

Lore Denin: Both the Atalan and the Temple had attempted to take the cities to change them from what they had been in Britannia to independent lands of their own beliefs. Whispering Winds in contrast did not leave to change its values but left to preserve them. Should the Ruling Council ever deem honor no longer a worthwhile pursuit, I suspect Trinsic would have an obligation to defend that virtue and its cultural heritage.

Rose: "So then you're saying that Magincia doesn't belong to the Magincians but to the Britannians?"

Lore Denin: In essence, yes. When Magincia joined the Kingdom of Britannia, it became a part of us all, not just the individuals who dwell upon the island. Only if Britannia were to violate its obligations to the people, city or its virtue should such a secession be supported.

Rose: "I understand you are currently Vice Chancellor of the High Council?"

Lore Denin: "Yes, though I have not been present of late. I feel that I may need to resign and allow someone who can be more present to take on the duties. My free time has mostly been tied up with the war in felucca.

Rose: "And finally, what advice would you give someone new to the world that wanted to get involved in the community?"

Lore Denin: Explore all this world has to offer and find what it is that you love. I believe if you are doing what you love, you will find yourself immersed in the community you enjoy most. Virtue Keep You.

Till All Are One.
