Title: The Ancient Orders

Author: Scribe Dional

The Ancient Orders of Sosaria, were once long chronicled and praised.

However many of our young generation fail to understand their roots and the reason why they stand in the nation they do, and how the great guilds even formed. As our books crumble to dust, and the world scatters that dust, we must pass knowledge of the old days on, so that our origin is never lost.

The Bard’s College

The Collegium of Bards was not always an institution of higher learning, free expression and open discourse. In fact, the Collegium originally was started by a pair of thieves. While their names have been lost to time, it is known that these two thieves were not bards at all, in their aged later days the two could no longer ply their trade across Sosaria and so they brought together every musician, singer and songwriter they could find into a single group. Thus the two thieves became legitimate businessmen and the Collegium was begun.

The Moonglow Mages Guild

Quite possibly the most powerful group entity in Sosaria was originally largely populated by the order called, The Seers of the Moonstone. While the two groups have long since parted ways, these two groups began as one.

The Moonstone Seers were (and may still be) a reclusive Order, dedicated to learning and the preservation of knowledge. They collected Ancient Artifacts, Wrote Histories, and even built the great telescope on the Island of Verity.

While it is true that the Mages of Moonglow’s Guild do indeed stand tall on their own, it is the Seers of the Moonstone which will always remain their foundation. What secrets, might they still now keep? To my knowledge, no one has seen a Seer of the Moonstone in many ages, as of this writing there is only a single old man that purports to have been a member of the Order, alas I do not put stock in the ramblings of old men who haunt taverns such as the Dog and Lion.

The Knights of the Crux Ansata, and the Order of the Silver Serpent

While the former has grown quite popular over these past years, and the latter fallen out of favor the two fabled groups of Knights hold a shared history very few know about. Before the Order of the Silver Serpent founded the hold called Serpent’s Hold, and before Lady Amandine escaped with her former master Lord Simeon the two groups were known in ancient times as The Knights of the Ankh.

The Knights of the Ankh were the original Knights of the Realm of Sosaria, bringing Order to the disorder of Anarchy, and Virtue to the hearts of men. The cataclysm that befell the great Knights of the Ankh is unknown by me, however, the founders of both the Order of the Silver Serpent and the Knights of the Crux Ansata are both known to history to have been surviving Knights of the Ankh.
